When you do not make God the All in All then you are not making him who he is. It doesn't matter whether you think someone is great for whatever reason. God is all in all. So you don't have to worship something to make them greater than they should be. If you aren't making God all in all, then you have made everything else WAY bigger than it should be.

Effectively the lack of worship of God creates a de facto worship of other things.
