Justin, do you have a prayer rope? If you're not very good at tying knots, you may wish to string beads together and add a cross or a tassel. I make chotki out of beads, and while not exactly professional, they are certainly a good reminder to pray.

Perhaps it would even be acceptable to order a free rosary on the internet and use it to count the Jesus Prayer on. I'm not sure if that would be considered OK or not, however.

I made one out of beads too the other day...long but looks good and certainly a great reminder to get my prayer life sorted out!

Believe it or not, there are some Orthodox Churches here in the USA that do face West because the city government demanded that they do so. There is the placement problem.

The lay of the land and the grading affect the entrance to the Church.

In case of a fire, the sacristy is usually adjacent to the parking lot so that the priest can quickly enter the building. Many church fires are started accidentally near the sacristy or in the Holy Altar because that one altar candle is kept burning.

If the lot is very small, there may not be any choice in the matter.
