I am not an atheist, and it's not a matter of anything "being in someone's head" (imaginary). It's a matter (likely) of her natural sleep paralysis turning on at the wrong time and her feeling like she is being held down. I have experienced this. It is terrifying.

Some posts on the thread suggested that prayer is the only answer for this sort of thing. I don't think that's so.

That's why I said the OP should consult a sleep specialist.

I knew you weren't an atheist but the other person who quoted me was. The statement I made about "being in someone's head" wasn't meant to seem imaginary but that that is where the problem takes place...in their head or mind as apposed to the lungs or heart or other body part. I agree if the problem persists to a point of being disruptive and not having any relief from prayer then get some help. When it affected me the most, people just didn't go to the Dr unless they had a broken body part or had the money to pay for things like that. I suffered for over 20 years and still do at times but the suggestions of prayer and sleeping with my bible did help and still do. Even today I could not afford to see a sleep specialist so prayer to God is still my relief

If you want to try or recommend faith healing and prayer as an adjunct therapy, knock yourself out.

If you want to lead others down the primrose path of faith healing, there I will have to oppose you as irresponsible no matter what your belief system, and the courts will back me up on that.

There has been evidence, there is multiple articles on how faith is tied into the placebo effect... also I really must ask... why is an atheist on a christian forum ? Sure were welcome to everyone, but I don't get why someone who doesn't believe bothers even interacting with us.

Why are you answering to those who are asking about God? You do not appose me but you appose the Almighty God! If I go to an atheist forum and advise others like you to pray for healing then maybe you can appose what I say but if I recommend prayer for someone on a GOD BELIEVING CHRISTIAN forum that asks for advice you have no place in threatening me for doing such a thing. Be ready for God's hand in your life because I am praying for you.

I think in this verse He is referring to people who have never looked for Him. I think it can be like the parable of the man who is calling people to the wedding banquet but everyone he knows ends up being to busy to come so his servants are told to go out and search the highways and ditches, look for people who didn't even know about the party, and invite them instead. The backsliders would be the lost sheep or the virgins who didn't bring enough oil.

I have had these type of dreams before. In fact in mine I had no voice and could not scream. That was quite awhile ago, and since, if I have a dream like this, I find I am able to say the name of Jesus and have a voice.

Actually many folks who think they are right with God will hear those words.
Deception says mumble some words live as you want
Truth says those who obeyed and did His word.
Deception says once forgiven always forgiven.
There are those who walk with the Lord and one day give into persecution and walk away and refuse to listen to The Holy Spirit and live in sin......most dangerous.

I have been praying for you, and just wanted you to know that you are not alone, and that you are not crazy.

My dream was very similar to yours, I had multiple demons trying to pull me through the floor. And felt like they were trying to pull me down to hell.

My husband and I. Are praying for you and will continue to be on your side.

Something I was thinking about it, and I look back on my life at the time, there were many things that were present in my life, and had i had the wisdom I have now, I would have asked God to help me remove them. And to be honest it can be as simple as walking in unforgivenes. Or even someone else in the home doing things that are trying to get to you.
