Not for any of us to grant. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of Faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross...

This is about him --not about you. TALK to HIM.

The Bible story of the unjust ruler, and the woman who sought justice from him, and he didn't want to be bothered, says she just kept at it until he finally gave her justice just to be rid of her. How much more the Creator of your soul will give you what you need!

Don't give up. Insist on it. But remember, he rarely does things we want quite how we envisioned them. Take his yoke upon you, and learn of him......and you will find rest unto your soul.

Sorry you are struggling my brother. Most of my younger years, all I felt was depression and anger. That is all I knew. I began seeking God on a personal level, and not a church level. My life began to change when I opened the Bible for myself and began reading. I hope you make the decision to turn to Him. Hang in there brother, you do not know what plans God has for you.

I have the same struggle. It is hard, and it is hard to not equate how we feel to where we are with God. An absence of joy, hope, happiness, freedom, can be very, very hard. It is hard. But please, don't confuse feelings with God's Will, or love for you. They are not the same. God loves you. Sometimes we can not feel His Love, but His Love is real. Sometimes, the Crucifix is the only thing that makes sense to me. That helps me get it, and keep going.

He loves you. Don't forget that!

I know what you mean, and it's tough. Unfortunately I don't have any advice other than to just keep going day to day. Sadly most of the advice given just simple platitudes and "lofty" high and mighty quotes rather than actionable advice. Keep your head up.

Reading the Word of God is one way that we hear God speak. I suggest reading and meditating on God's Word.
This is what builds me up friend and I pray that you will be filled with peace and joy.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Doing this really helps me. I find that it isnt joylessness that takes my joy. It is specific thoughts. Lies that I start believing even if I dont realize it. They can be very subtle and they can pile up very quickly. I find that praying with other people does help but honestly doing what these verses say and casting my cares on the Lord is the only way that I can maintain steady peace in my heart and mind.

"Lord take away the things that are troubling my mind. The discouragement and fear and sorrow and _______"

Thats how I pray, and I try to be as specific as I can about the the individual things that are bothering me. It takes a while sometimes hours. And when your first trying to learn to do this it may take days or weeks. But God will give you this promise if you seek Him for it without giving up. You have the promise:

the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

    Grace and peace

    Mike

Such needy people in the world today, Lord. People that are starving spiritually when the spiritual food is so accessible. Bibles all around, and yet so many are not reading them. You give us so many invitations from the beginning of just the NT to the end of the Nt alone, Matthew 11:28-30, Revelation 22:17, to come to You and receive all that we need in life (2Pe 1:3-4). How could one not be happy, to spite all the bad things in this life, when we have all that You have given us. May this one desiring happiness be directed to find it in the right places and in the right ways. Amen. Psalms 30:11; Psalms 42:1-2; Psalms 42:11.
