I don't agree with everything John Piper says, and I am not a Calvinist, but I think this is great!

It's about not fearing not having enough money.

I personally believe incorrect theology harms worship more than anything, money, etc....

The current church denominations are creating a gospel of doubt. By not teaching the security of the believer based on God's promise that all who trust in The Messiah for Eternal Life is a born again child of God who has crossed over from death to life.

But instead of teaching this truth, they put the focus of the person. Saying look to yourself and what you are doing or have done for God. That creates a person who only can fail or at best they are on a yo-yo going back and forth from highs and lows in their lives.

Jesus actually commands us not to worry about it in Matthew 6:25-34.

I knew this grandmother that prayed 4 hours a day and had so much power of God. So I asked her one day about someone we all know and she said "I listen to him I just don't agree with everything he teaches". Its just what you said remined me of this.

The bible tells us that perfect (complete) love casts out fear. The bible also defines love (1 Cor 13:4-7) as essentially selflessness. So that one might consider that as selfishness decreases so does fear.
