Hi all,

A guy whom i met online has asked me to set these lyrics to music for him.
I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out what this poem is about.

I need unbiased opinions from people who could be considered as music listeners.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:
Can you analyze each verse and chorus and describe what you all think the writer is saying in each?
I've numbered each verse and chorus for you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second EDIT
Let's remember that you nice folks are privileged to see the lyrics. BUT when the guy will sing the song on stage, NOBODY will see the lyrics - they will only hear the words that come from his mouth.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Third EDIT
Psalm 139:8 has been pointed out and established several times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you very much for your time and your analysis.

I Will Never Leave You

Verse 1
I am blinded and bloodied
The temple all around me has come down
She has searched me for my secret, secret secret
And left me chained and broken here
And left me chained and broken here

Chorus 1
She said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you

Verse 2
I am sitting in the ashes
Of the house she has burned down
She is sitting there, smiling, holding matches
On the other side of town
On the other side of town

Chorus 2
She said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too (Psalm 139:8 )
I will never leave you

Verse 3
I am sitting in the darkness
Wishing that my mother’s son had died
I was shivering because of cold and fear
When I heard a voice that cried
Then I heard a voice that cried

Chorus 3
It said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too (Psalm 139:8)
I will never leave you

Verse 4
I’ve been consumed and constricted
It’s been four dark and helpless days
My way back to the living has been sealed
And my life is gone away
And my life is gone away

Chorus 4
But He said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too (Psalm 139:8)
I will never leave you

I think it is the offer of hope after a girl betrayed him/her. The hope is tentative given the hurt that came from the girl's promises mirrored by "God's". I think the music should hint at hope but fear in the end. The writer doesn't know if he/she will be betrayed yet again.

There are two "voices" in these lyrics. The person who is suffering, and the "she" who is speaking to him. At first glance, it seems as though God has brought the person's life to nothing to build it up again through faith in His presence. But the "she" puts a spanner on those works, and make it appear that it is not God speaking at all, but some other person who has put a match to the person's hopes and dreams.

As a Christian, I would not sing a song like that.

An abusive mother and three other persons who did nothing about it. My take anyway.
An abusive mother? Hmm. Interesting.

The person sounds confused. Each promise the writer quotes is that of the Lord. But the author seems to be quoting mortal people instead of God.

I would say the guy was in some trouble with His brother, met a girl or authority woman that promised to help Him, Her help concisted of breaking Him and got into even more trouble because He believed the woman.

We know this, it's very obvious.

Can you explain what each verse and chorus says to you, please?

Why did you capitalize the "h" in his (brother), please? I am very interested to know why.

Where do you see a brother in these lyrics?
The author is saying "I", "me" and "my" throughout.

Oh maybe I am grammatically incorrect, I have perhaps become germanized, I thought actually He was spelled with a big H in english too, English is like my third language, now I don’t even remember anymore if they say He with a big letter in Germany either but I often catch myself erasing many big letters in the start of words that I probably got from the German. I travelled a lot there. In the lyric it said something about he wished his mothers son were dead so I thought that was his brother or halfbrother. I was incorrect... I looked it up on grammar He camebridge on yahoo and got a bit more educated in my third language. Thank You ever so much for pointing it out to me. Well maybe I too have many dark despairing secrets that I should not tell here but the lyrics does definitedly speak of despair to death and betrayal of the more serious sort. However the repeating lyric must have a nice tune to it musically or it gets boring. It would be nice if it could be some sort of Hope or light in the lyric. Like, he has struggled with himself to forgive her from his heart or leave her to God to handle and forgive as best as he is able to with the help of God so he could go on in life but he has not come there yet - now all is a stagnant stinking sad bleeding infected wound, that need cleansing and honey and some healing oils. I think we all felt bitterness of getting wounded at times, but we need to get up, with hope, keep going with faith and try loving again with Love.

Uhm..but...
Sie wird mit ihrem Bruder ankommen und er wird glücklich sein.
She will arrive with her brother, and he will be happy.

Germans do not capitalize the pronouns, "I - ich", - "you - du", "he - er", "she - sie", "us - wir" OR "they - sie".
They only capitalize the polite form of "you = Sie".
And, of course, they start sentences with capitals.
They also capitalize all nouns and names.
I used to live in Frankfurt a.M..

In the lyric it said something about he wished his mothers son were dead so I thought that was his brother or halfbrother.
He is his mother's son. Not his brother.
It seems to me that HE is suffering so much that he wishes HE had died at birth.

The lyrics does definitedly speak of despair to death and betrayal of the more serious sort.
It seems to me that HE betrayed HER and she went nutso on him.

I'll worry about the music.
It seems there is no hope in the lyrics. The writer even indicates that God (He) will be in hell with him and HER - in a bed. Psalm or no psalm.
How could he suggest that God would reside in hell instead of in heaven?!
Jesus loves everyone - except for hypocrites who choose not to not walk in His footsteps

What is your first language,by the way.

Like, he has struggled with himself to forgive her...
I look at the first verse and wonder what was his secret she had discovered and made her turn against him so much.
Sounds to me the guy did something wrong to her, and she turned on him because of it. She began to hate him and want to destroy him and his belongings (his house).

I can't see him "forgiving" her. I get the impression from these lyrics that SHE needs to forgive HIM for that secret she discovered about him which set her on a rampage against him, in the first place.

It seems to me that she even threatens him with following him to hell.
I can only imagine that she was SO ANGRY, so hurt - because of that uncovered secret, that instead of finding a new man, she would rather follow him to hell to torture him for eternity - and in a bed - in hell. You do not see that?
Did he cheat on her? Was he a bisexual, a closeted homosexual or a crossdresser? Maybe she found out he was a pedophile and hiding it from her. Or worse, maybe she discovered that he was a necrophile. We do not know what the secret was as it is not mentioned in the lyrics BUT he mentions "secret, secret, secret", and then, he seems to blame her for being very hurt and angry.

Yes, she told him that she would always be there and never forsake him. But it seems to me that she reacted to that secret - that HORRIBLE, terrible, unforgivable secret that he was hiding. Who betrayed whom?
For example, if i promised to never beat you, and then, i bet you up, who should forgive the other?

It seemsto me that the deceiver (the guy) is blaming the deceived of being the deceiver. Reversal of blame.

Perhaps his apperance only reminded her of some rich famous goodlooking billioneer in his former youth once he dressed up properly for her and she got so certain he was the son of that guy and tried to prove it - to no awail. Got mad after the billioneer laught at her futile desperate attemts or such, saying nice try. Well some peoples looks seem to be quite similar - even though they do not belong to the same family. Now this billioneer had been rude and nasty to her so every time she looks at her darling she gets in a bad mood thinking how he reminds her of him and the arguments are already boiling inside of her - not good.
About my capitalized He, I do remember my last teacher used a big H in He on grammar lesson but that was probably only since he started the sentence with a He and I had as usual been painting like five hours with oil sometimes and then the terpentine and other solutions we used in class made us a bit strange, say open to suggestions or sometimes even a bit dizzy, we did not air the room in freezing winter too often because it is cold here so maybe we quite didnt follow the english too well after art. Fortunatedly I went abroad. Swedish is my mothertounge, finnish is my second language. Enough of me now. The lyrics is sad and there is much dark black elements in it, if it were sung in my country where suicide is high, maybe highest in the world some might find no hope, only deep black despair and start to think more negative thoughts of actually hurting themselves, everyone that has been badly betrayed can identify but personnally for me I want to go on in life and yes I know some finns listen to deathmetal a lot but that is not my style of music. I prefer some hope in the lyrics too, even if it for the moment feels like sweet lies when seemingly all hope is gone. But still, when You have death before You, all You can do is forgive, as Christ did and do Your final wishes, give Your life and soul and spirit to the Lord of Life if You have not before and trust Him with a big H to to the best He can do of the mess. He is the God of the universe that can raise people from death and has done it before if He so wishes. I think heaven is a good place but I wish for noones death, I would hope that we would live so that our life is in order whenever we have to leave this earth but we seem to be so busy. Those small dispytes in peoples life seem so trivial. Here on earth we often think that death is all black, and despair although it can be light and peaceful aswell after the initial panic if You have set Your life in order and fully trust in God and are saved by Jesus Christ and have your sins forgiven. Nothing is all black without shadows or light, that is not natural, so please ask the writer to add some light some hope too or love, of some sort. After all we are here on earth to show the Love of God in some pure form. Even if Your purpose is to paint the devil on canvas You have to use both light and dark and in betweens and probably some colour to make it come alive, remember he could pretend being the prince of light. Only painting a black canvas without form is not likely to be remembered for long.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you very much for your time and your analysis.

I Will Never Leave You

Verse 1
I am blinded and bloodied
The temple all around me has come down
She has searched me for my secret, secret secret
And left me chained and broken here
And left me chained and broken here

Chorus 1
She said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you

Verse 2
I am sitting in the ashes
Of the house she has burned down
She is sitting there, smiling, holding matches
On the other side of town
On the other side of town

Chorus 2
She said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too
I will never leave you

Verse 3
I am sitting in the darkness
Wishing that my mother’s son had died
I was shivering because of cold and fear
When I heard a voice that cried
Then I heard a voice that cried

Chorus 3
It said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too
I will never leave you

Verse 4
I’ve been consumed and constricted
It’s been four dark and helpless days
My way back to the living has been sealed
And my life is gone away
And my life is gone away

Chorus 4
But He said: I will never leave you
I am here to help you
I will never forsake you
I am here to help you
If you make your bed in hell I’ll be there too
I will never leave you

It almost sounds like God seems far away, 'if I make my bed in hell', that sounds like the Old Testament Sheol. Just a guess, but I think this individual is feeling like God has left them. Hard to say really, but got that definite impression.
