:help: Ok all, you know that I always turn to you when I need information ;)

Anyway, my husband is interested in reading books about Jewish/Messianic beliefs, rituals, traditions, etc. I have lots but....he speaks/reads only Spanish. I'm hoping you all can give me some ideas as to titles, authors, and where I can find books in Spanish.

Todah!!!!!

Can he read Portuguese? Though I cannot really claim that I speak Spanish, I usually
have around 75% of comprehension when reading it, due to the fact that Portuguese
came from Spanish. If he can, I suggest that you take a look at the following site:

http://www.ensinandodesiao.org.br

They have a lot of articles, a monthly magazine and even off-campus theology training.
Have him take a look at the site, see if he can understand it.

In Messiah,
Ben Tsion

Gracias B.T. :)
I checked out that site and was able to understand a large part of it, so I will so show it to my husband. He may be able to understand enough to get the gist of what they're saying. Thank you very much!!!

If you do run across any info in Spanish, I'd still appreciate it.

Spanish/Mediterranian/Oriental Jews = Sephardic Judaism, their indiginous language is Ladino

European Jews = Ashkenazi Judaism, their indiginous language is Yiddish

We, in the US, are most familiar with the Ashkenazi Jewish culture - but the Sephardic culture is rich and some of our most learned, honored and famous rabbinical scholars come from the Sephardim!

Here is a suprising bit: the first synagogue in America was Sephardic...
Here is a link with a bit of history of the Sephardic Jews.

Many of these sites have both english and spanish versions;)

Spanish Haggadah

You may find much more if you do a web search "in spanish" rather than english. I did search for "sephardic, spanish jews, sephardim, spanish siddur, etc...

That should whet your appetite!!

I was vaguely familiar with the Sephardim and their history, but I am interested in learning more. Especially since my husband is now expressing more interest in study. My grandparents are from Germany so the little tradition that got passed down to me came from them. At shul the rabbi occasionally makes mention of Sephardic custom.

Here is a link with a bit of history of the Sephardic Jews.

This is a very intresting site. My husband will be interested to know that his last name shows up on the list they give.

Thank you so much for checking into this for me. I was wanting to do a search, but wasn't sure the best terms to look up what I'm looking for. I really appreciate your help, both with this, the book recommendations for me, and all the other questions you've answered for me.

Shalom!!!!!!
