people think of Jesus? This may adressed in another thread but I did not take the time to look at them all. I amy be wrong but it is my understanding they don't regard him as the messiah? Could someone please explain?
inspector: depending on who you talk to and what tradition they have come up in, they can either view him as anything from a prophet, to a great Rabbi or teacher, or the illegitimate son of a harlot.
It used to be that he wasn't even discussed, Yeshua was the worst of the Minim in the eyes of many. With modern scholarship and the issue being addressed in a more credible and serious way by many I think he is starting to be referred to as a very liberal rabbi.
Much of the blame for the actual Messianic beliefs seem to be getting foisted onto the Apostoles or the first Talmidei Yeshua.
That was my impression when I was in Jerusalem and used to discuss it with some rabbinic students regularly.
