The word protein is very vague. It sounds like youre not getting the right amino acids. Plenty of aduki beans, mung beans, black eye beans, haricot beans etc, are fantastic.
I believe the main causes of Osteoporosis are cows milk, lack of sunlight and dehydration. Any nation where most people drink gallons of cow's milk, like the U.S. is rife with Osteoporosis.
Cows Milk: The research on cows milk being good for you was done in the 60s and PAID FOR BY THE MILK INDUSTRY TO GET RID OF A MASSIVE SURPLUS OF MILK, and to take advantage of the socialist governments of the time.
Cows milk actually weakens the bones. Your blood ph likes to be slightly alkaline 7.4. Anything you eat or drink as an affect on this. Cows milk has an acidifies your blood ph. When this happens your body has to rectify it by getting some alkali from somewhere and the normal way is to strip calcium from your bones (the calcium in cows milk is hard to absorb).
Im not saying dont drink milk. Im saying dont drink gallons of it, thinking that it is good for you, because it is not.
Lack of Sunlight: The sun has been branded public enemy number 1. If you believe the slander youd think God had put the Sun in the sky to torture us. Today people cover themselves in carcinogenic sun blocks and carcinogenic false tans. You need Vitamin D to absorb Calcium. Sunlight is essential. RDAs are the minimum recommended amount for vitamins. I believe the RDA for vitamin D is way too low. If youre out in the sun on a hot summers day, your body will make about 100 times the RDA for Vit D in 20 minutes. If we dont need that much, then why on earth does your body make it?

Only water counts as water. Tea, Coffee, Juice, milk (milk is a food and should be treated as so), sports drinks, sodas etc are all diuretics and take more water out of you than the actual beverage of the drink.
