The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only sin that can't be forgiven (Matthew 12:31).
The Philippian jailer asked the same thing to Paul and Silas. "What can I do to be saved?" Paul and Silas respond with, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:30-31).
We all have sin, we have all been born into sin (Romans 3:23, Psalm 51:5). And we personally choose to sin. (Ecclesiastes 7:20, 1 John 1:8). Sin is what keeps us apart from God and sin is what leads us to hell.
Yes, the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). When we sin, it's committed towards an eternal and infinite God (Psalm 51:4). So, the consequences for our sin is also eternal and infinite. We need to be saved from eternal destruction (Matthe 25:46, Revelation 20:15).
But, there's hope.
Since the just consequence, or penalty, for sin is infinite and eternal, only God could pay that penalty since he's infinite and eternal. But, since God could not die, God took on human flesh, lived among us, and taught us. He willingly sacrificed Himself for us, allowing Himself to be crucified. (John 10:15). Jesus' death on the cross had an eternal and infinite value.
JESUS' DEATH ON THE CROSS WAS THE PERFECT AND COMPLETE PAYMENT FOR OUR SIN (1 JOHN 2:2).
So, how can you be saved?
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (
Acts 16:31). It's not your works, but His work on the cross. All you have to do is receive, in faith, the salvation God offers (Ephesians 2:8-9). Trust Jesus alone as the payment for the sins that you've committed, believe in him, and you won't perish (John 3:16).
