I am hypothyroid and goitrogens are foods that harm your thyroid function.

I take something for my hypothyroidism but if I accidentally eat anything with soy in it, then the next day I am very cold and very tired. The culprit can be in one little supplement that has a soy based capsule, something like apricots packaged in a factory where soy is processed, and so on.

It is not just soy that is goitrogenic, but now I hear that barley powder is, and I got the chills and fatigue after eating that. It is so tricky to know what is really goitrogenic and what is not, as some things that are supposed to be don't hurt me and some do.

Please pray for me to be alert to, and kept from, goitrogens. Thank you.

Heavenly Father, help LoricaLady to find and stay away from known and hidden sources of goitrogens to keep her thyroid healthy, In Jesus Name, Amen

As you may know, some natural vegetables like broccoli and some from the cabbage family also contain natural sources of goitrogen, so do some fruits, NSAID's, and antibiotics, but you will need to research those further.
