Hypnotism (Same As Other Forum....Ok To Put In Here?)

Just curious. What does everyone think about hypnotism? I've seen it done at fairs for entertainment purposes, and also once to help a few people stop smoking....but what do people think? Is this moral or not? What are people's opinions/experiences with this?

I've never really thought hypnotism in a theological sense, but reflecting on it now for a few moments i don't think i see anything wrong with it (and least when it's practised sensibly, but the same thing could be said for many activities). However, i fully expect someone to prove me wrong here!

Nothing wrong with it, all forms of psychoanalysis were originally Christian, hypnosis is merely a way of coping with mental ailments and neurosis that one can't deal with alone, so that one's mind may be closer to God.

In my view, hypnotism is not sinful, because people cannot be hypnotized against their will. People wllingly submit themselves to the will of the hypnotist. This is very different from the soothsaying and fortune telling forbidden in Scripture.
