It does seem that universal salvation (the unrepentant murder goes to heaven too) has taken root in many circles today. I heard it mentioned in church just this last Sunday.
Where will the hyper end?
Norah63 said:What exactly is hyper grace if not universal? I am making no judgements either way. It was just mentioned because of the inroads that way of thinking has made in society today. How shall it be countered?

You can't get saved by works. We're saved only by grace through faith. But faith without works is dead.I believe that you are of the opinion that GRACE + WORKS = SALVATION. Now that is THE BIG LIE which Satan wants people to believe.

If you study the New Testament carefully, here is what you will find.
1. Before the time of Moses people couldn't be saved by keeping the law because the Law wasn't yet given. Abraham (who lived hundreds of years before Moses) was justified by faith and not by lawkeeping.
2. Moses came and gave the Nation of Israel the law. That law was for national blessing and personal physical blessing but no one could gain eternal life by it. That law was to be kept so that the nation of Israel would be blessed by God and so that the individual Jews would have a long and prosperous life. For instance, if they honored their father and mother their days would be long upon the earth. etc. etc. If Israel broke the laws of Moses God would judge the land and send foreign armies against them and would kill those Jews who were greatly sinning. To keep the law was to obtain life (physical life) to break the law was to receive death (pre-mature physical death) Paul says that eternal life and justification could not be obtained by the law. In Romans 4 Paul says that King David was justified by faith and not by the law. (Just as Abraham was)
3. The law of Moses gave a sacrificial system in which Priests would kill animals so that God would not bring judgements on the nation and people for sin. However, the writer of Hebrews tells us that the blood of bulls and goats could not ever really bring remission of sins. When the Jews in the Old Testament sinned, God would bring judgements upon them as individuals and as a nation... However if turned from their disobedience and if they brought animal sacrifices God would forgive them so that they wouldn't receive physical judgements on the nation or as individuals. However, they still were unsaved spiritually unless they trusted in the coming Messiah to forgive their sins. Physical salvation was by keeping the law. Spiritual salvation was only by trusting the coming Messiah for eternal life.
3. When Jesus came, the Pharisees had completely misunderstood the law of Moses. They didn't understand that it was for the blessing of the nation of Israel. They thought it was for the obtaining of eternal life. They also thought that they were able to keep the law perfectly and earn salvation by it. Jesus began teaching them that the law was so strict that no one can obtain salvation by it. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus went over the laws and showed them that the laws are far-reaching and require complete moral perfection.
4. Often in Matthew, Mark and Luke, When lawyers and pharisees ask what actions they can perform or what they can DO to obtain eternal life... Jesus just tells them that if they can keep the law perfectly they can have eternal life. He did that to cause them to despair of salvation by works so that they would be prepared to quit trusting in the law of Moses for salvation and turn to Him for mercy and look to His sacrifice to cover their sins and save them after He died on the cross.
5. Throughout the book of John Jesus teaches over and over and over that eternal live is a gift that is given freely to those who believe in Jesus. To believe in Jesus means to trust Him to give you eternal life rather than trying to earn it by personal efforts and works and lawkeeping.
6. The Apostle Paul taught in the book of Romans that eternal life could in theory be obtained by keeping the law if anyone could keep it perfectly. However He says that everyone is a sinner and so no one can be saved by the law. Instead, Jesus came and died on the cross to pay for our disobedience to the law. He died to pay for our sins. Therefore, He offers salvation as a free gift by faith in Christ. To have faith in Christ means to quit trusting in our attempts to keep the law for salvation and instead to trust and believe that the blood of Jesus covers our sins and saves us from the wrath of God and guarantees our eternal life and a home in heaven.
7. Paul plainly teaches salvation not by works but by faith. In Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul says "for it is by Grace that you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast." Salvation is not by doing any works whatsoever. It is a gift. It isn't earned or deserved. It is a gift which is freely given to those who trust Christ to save them and do not depend on themselves or their works.
Paul said "Therefore we conclude, that a man is justified by faith, APART FROM the deeds of the law."
And he also said... " but to him who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness"
That means People who realize that they cannot keep the law well enough to be saved and so they quit trying to do anything to save themselves.... and instead just believe and trust that Jesus will save them because He died for them ....those people are considered to be righteous in God's eyes because their sins are covered by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus.
8. Last point. When you get saved (justified) the Holy Spirit enters you and leads you to live a godly life. When you sin you will be chastened and disciplined but you will not lose your salvation.
