On March 27th 2015, an asteroid 2014-YB35 was considered a non-threatening celestial object if anything it just fell in the category of Near Earth Objects. The Scientists and other astrological experts said the asteroid would be barely noticed by the time it passed earth. In fact, the damn rock would be 2,788, 674 miles away from earth which is greater than the distance between the earth and the moon. Therefore, it wouldn't make any sense why the earth would be threatened in anyway.

It was on a cloudy afternoon, when Martha was taking a walk along the Botanical Gardens and the weather was getting a little bit chilly because long rains were underway. She would have been there for the last two hours waiting for her friend Sharon who always took forever to show up. In fact, she had just called her over the phone and the only thing she could say was, "I have just left the house and will be there in 15 minutes." It was always hard to understand Sharon because Martha knew she had gone back to the house the nth time to change her dress. How about annoying friends!!! Martha had been through this before and anyway, she left the house at exactly 2.00 p.m. because she knew Sharon wouldn't be ready by 12.30 p.m. as she had promised. So Martha always chose to leave the house 1 1/2 hours later after the agreed time. Martha, a simple girl, took less than 15 minutes to get ready and in a bit, she would be on the next bus. She lived far from the main stop so she preferred to take a walk for about 10 minutes or so before she arrived at the bus stop.

Martha called Sharon the 3rd time asking her where she was exactly and she said, "I'm at the Mall's bathroom." Martha cringed and murmured, "She has to re-do the make up AGAIN???" At last, Sharon appeared and as usual anyone would think she was going for a red-carpet event. She was a , short girl, quite curvy, thin lips with red-lipstick, her hair tied up, rosy cheeks and her knee high fitting dress said a lot about her. She always insisted on wearing peep toe sandals and this time she wore a black pair which went well with her pink striped knee high prom dress. She took time with herself and it was hard to tell if she ever took time with others. Martha having known Sharon since kindergarten knew Sharon cared for others but only if there was something exciting to her about the person, this included, a touch of class and mastering location of shopping malls at their finger-tips. So she was hard to keep up with. As a result of her sophistication Martha was the only friend Sharon managed to keep.

This time round, Sharon wanted Martha to help her shop for a new garment which she wanted to use to create her new designer collection. Sharon was a hardworking girl and took time to understand all the fashion trends before settling on a particular design. Therefore, she at least had her independence that supported her passions and Martha to wipe her tears whenever she felt she wasn't being a designer enough. In 15 minutes they were standing before a stall that had all sorts of fabrics and Sharon would always ask for an opinion like a thousand times before picking the one she wanted. Martha was very patient and knew Sharon needed assurance that she was making a good decision. Anyway, she was the only one who understood her friend and knew she could get annoying if no one understood her. So she helped her get through the fabricvcs and whenever Sharon would get cranky she made fun of her or something and Sharon would brighten up again. Having being a daddy's girl she was half spoilt but life was tough since she never had a mum to cheer her on and it was hard staying with a father who was always traveling, it was hard being "Sharon Mawingu." She seemed to have brought up herself but all the same it explained her desire to look beautiful all the time and that's what her friend was for.

The scientists were very busy setting up equipment to monitor the asteroid's movement and more so, to enjoy the view that would be invisible to the human eye. Dr. Seuss was at the desk going through various imagery machines and was glad to know that the asteroid was on course as predicted. Dr. Seuss took time to look through all the computer screens before taking his coffee break. So he took his coffee break and had a small chat with his friend Master George who had walked with him throughout the asteroid menace. For some reason, the computers started flickering and the screens started rolling upwards after every few minutes. Then when the technician was about to check what was wrong, the screens went back to normal. After that Dr. Seuss went to his office desk and was interrupted by a phone call from his 8 year old son before he re-checked the computer monitoring screens. The little boy wanted his father to wish him a good-night before he went to sleep and having been raised by the mom, that was the least the Doctor could do. As he put his phone down, he noticed the screens acting up again. This time, he went to see the technician to see if he found out the problem. By the time, he reached the technician's department, the computers were not only acting up but switched on and switch off alternately.

The Technician switched off the main switch and then looked at the power cables as well as the wiring leading to the machines. He discovered a rodent had chewed up the cables but that was odd. So he immediately replaced the ones he could. At last the computers were back to normal. The Doctor went back to his office and looked back at the screens. He was shocked, he couldn't believe what he saw on the screen. There seemed to be another object in space even though the asteroid was still on course as predicted. He couldn't determine how fast the other object was flying so he had to get a projectile and trajectory of the object's direction/Speed. So he alerted the other scientists. They only had less than half an hour to determine the object's projectile and trajectory before taking necessary precaution. It was late at night when the trajectory and projectile results came out which were beyond the scientists' imagination. In less than 2 hours the unimaginable would happen.

The object was traveling 11,000 miles per hour while the asteroid was traveling at 23,000 miles/hr therefore, at exactly, 4.00 p.m. UTC the object and asteroid would intersect or collide leaving the debris hitting the earth's atmosphere. The amount of damage would be unfathomable.

Martha and Sharon were done with the shopping and decided to have a snack at the Mall's coffee shop. All over sudden the earth grew dark and it started raining in rocks. A rock hit the Ice Cream vendor on the other side of the street such that a part of his skull became visible. Everyone started running in all directions, the cars' windscreens were smashed such that it was hard to distinguish a whole car and crushed one. Everything was hit to pulp, the windows to office buildings were hit leaving glass pieces on people's flesh. Some rocks were big and small buildings were finished completely. It was chaotic. Martha had already thought of rushing inside the shopping mall when her friend Sharon head seemed cracked after being hit by a rock too. Martha was now lost on what to do but before she could rush to pick her friend Sharon, a piece of glass flew right through the left side of her brain and she went blank. She lied on the floor lifeless. By the end of the rock shower, everything was smitten to fine bits and lifeless beings were all over. In less than an hour, earth had no living being and if any, a handful or so.
