Anno Mundi (Latin for "in the year of the world"; Hebrew: לבריאת העולם‎, "to the creation of the world"), abbreviated as AM, or Year After Creation.

So then a year after God created the world or the year of??

Alright, makes sense,.. but what proof do we have that this information is accurate?

The best scholars of the Byzantine Empire calculated it from the scriptures...

The earth is much older than some Christians make it out to be.

II Peter 3:5 "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:"

We aren't talking about Noah's flood here. No Christian is willingly ignorant about that.

It says by "by the word of God" ...

Even in the beginning of Genesis, we are given a hint (there are other scriptures, Jeremiah, Job, etc that also give clues upon further study.)

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep."

If you take the word "was" back to the Hebrew, it's 1961 hayah which means become or come to pass.

So the earth "became" void and without form.

So, the earth is quite old and science proves it but this coincides with the Bible as well.

People talk about the big bang, but that was literally God that shook the earth.

Isaiah 45:18 "for thus saith the Lord That created the heavens; God Himself That formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: "I am the Lord; and there is none else."

The word "vain" in this verse is the very same Hebrew word for "without form, and void.

So right there God is telling you he did not create it that way.

Again, there's a deeper study there in Job 38, 40 and Jeremiah 4.

I was just wondering because we're in the year 2020,.. but isn't that just counting the years after Jesus was born?

The earth is over 4.46 Billion years old. Mankind only recently began recording dates.
