I voted 10% but on second though it was more like 15%. I forgot about the boy's braces. It was a better year for me. The year my son broke his wrist it was closer to 20 (including premiums for the only plan my company offers which is a high deductible plan. )

Oops. Should have clicked less than 10%

And the nice thing is that what ever happens that’s not really going to change.

interesting: After we lost the ability to afford our healthcare, we joined a program our doctor offered. 30.00 a person per month and it covers all in office charges. Including broken bikes and most lab work.

we also have a quarter million dollar devastating illness plan in case of a major issue. That cost us 65 a month.

That's effectively an insurance plan set up by the doctor.

20% plus 12% national insurance. Income tax kicks in after £11000, and nat insurance after about £8000.

basically 32%. Seems like middle income taxes would go up 250 to 300% from what we pay now.

My income tax for the year just gone amounted to £5424

The government allocated 20% of last year's income tax collection to healthcare, so I guess that would amount to £1085.

My income was 40k, and, I also paid £50 pounds for a private physio on 2 occasions, so about 3% in total was spent on healthcare.

In that year, I had a baby, so was a heavy user of the NHS for that period.

thing to remember about these taxes is that it is paid on the sum earned above the bottom limit. So my effective rate of tax is considerably less, probably about 16-18%.

there’s a good calculator on the .gov website:

Estimate your Income Tax for the current year

On average, about 22/23% of total take home pay is taken in tax (assuming you earn somewhere than the untaxed personal allowance and the higher marginal rate)
