If not drinking alcohol will effectively save 480,000 lives a year, every year, why not completely end the sales of alcohol? Banning alcohol would be 100% effective in saving lives, and we are out only a mild inconvenience.
Interesting comparison.
It is, however, possible to drink alcohol but not to such an extent that it kills you. But it is, technically speaking, a poison.
You probably SHOULD have the right to drink poison if you wish.
The real issue is what if your drinking causes danger to others? This is the best comparison. Indeed there are scenarios where YOUR ingestion of alcohol can harm OTHERS. And interestingly enough we have laws that cover that very thing meaning it is currently ILLEGAL FOR YOU TO THREATEN THE LIVES OF OTHERS DUE TO YOUR INTOXICATION!
It is currently illegal for you to drive under the influence!
So, yeah, your example is spot on! I agree with your example! If your actions can harm others then you should be disallowed from taking those actions!
Just like drunk driving!
You can kill yourself however you like, but you are not allowed to endanger others!
Good call, Legacy! Good call!
