How is it possible to receive a healing touch from God w/o someone praying for you?

I had an experience just like that a week ago. I was at a church and they were singing worship songs. I was sitting down because I had intense leg pain that day due to a medical condition. As the song was playing, I began to feel a lightness and peace come into my feet and calves and it was just flowing. The pain decreased from a 10+ to a 4 and I continued to feel the lightness and peace for several hours before the heaviness and pain returned. No one prayed for me for healing that day. I've only experienced a healing touch from God when I asked someone to pray for me or I've prayed or stated affirmations for myself.

So, how is this possible, or did the holy spirit choose to show up and give me a healing touch out of nowhere and bless me in that way?

I had an experience some 12 years ago that may be pertinent to this.

I had been away from church and God for years. I just come out of a psych ward for depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I had expressed a desire to end my life, never acted but the expression was enough to lock me away for 2 weeks. Anyways, I was at a gas station getting some milk, it was just me and the clerk in the store.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

So I start looking around, seeing no one, but hearing an audible voice. AUDIBLE VOICE right over my left shoulder. I shrug it off, I had just come out of a psych ward after all. Took one step...

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart... Bryan are you trusting me?"
"Lean not on your own understanding... all these years you thought you had the answers and look at where you've landed."
"In all that you do acknowledge me... and I will direct your paths. Bryan come back to me and I will set you free."

So I sighed heavily, thought about it for just a second and said:

"Yes Jesus, I'm sorry, please help me. I commit myself to you again."

And instantly, in the middle of this gas station I felt all this pain and pressure flee from me. It was amazing and I can not even express to anyone how amazing it was.

Now that story is pertinent because I hadn't been praying. My Bible when I got home had layers of dust on it. I wasn't seeking God for healing, I wasn't seeking God for anything. His name only left my lips in vanity and lawlessness. But he healed me anyways.

Now that doesn't preclude that someone else may have been praying for you! I pray all the time now for God to reach out to touch someone who is struggling in depression, or any number of issues. No idea if anything actually happens, but trusting him to fulfill his word. So it's possible that he just healed you out of his grace. But it's also possible that some stranger somewhere prayed a prayer in faith for an anonymous soul and you were the gracious recipient of it.

At any rate, HALLELUJAH! for his healing touch ya?!

God gave you peace during worship. How lovely!

I was healed of a digestive issue after feeling that if I prayed for someone else God could heal me. The pastor had a word of knowledge about someone being healed of the problem I had and although I felt nothing at the time when I got home and ate a full meal the issue was completely gone. Before I could only eat a little without feeling bad.

If you check out healing in the Bible the many ways it was done is almost insane.... from a shadow falling on people to rubbing mud in the eye to speaking a word of healing to telling people to bathe it is a combination of God's mercy, for the sake of the Gospel, and so on. In other words prayer is not necessarily required but essentially faith in God to do miracles does help. One could consider a simple "asking" God as a prayer even a desire to be healed as enough faith. Faith in God does help but it doesn't have to be the faith of the one healed but others.

In other words healing can be opportunistic and unexpected at times, but it isn't guaranteed regardless of faith, prayer, etc some things/people don't get healed of some maladies.... ever. My pastor who in our church had many healings happen including mine got sick of lymphoma and died from it. Prayer of his church and everything didn't help.

Have faith God CAN heal you and believe he WILL heal you, but don't be disappointed when it doesn't happen according to your timeline as often God's timing and desires are a mystery to us. Long life with good health is not a guarantee and the worse the disease/problem the more the miracle needed for it and likely the less probable you will be healed but be encouraged that people have been healed of very difficult things with the climax in miracles of raising the dead.

You just never know. How wonderful that you got a brief reprieve.

I experienced this in the most amazing way also. I was the soloist at an Easter service that was held in a beautiful outdoor setting. The song I was to sing was to set the tone for the sermon that followed me. 2500+ people were on their way in. But I was in acute pain from a gall bladder attack and was doubled over backstage.

We prayed and I headed for the stage still in pain and trying desperately to stand upright. As the intro started to play the pain disappeared. I sang the song and nobody in the audience knew. When I was done, I exited the stage, and BAM! The pain was back.

The next day I got an ultrasound where stones were identified. I was to get a more thorough MRI prior to surgery that was scheduled shortly after that. When the MRI was taken, the stones were gone. The doc and I were astounded. Surgery was cancelled.

God got me through that solo, and I didn't disrupt the service, which was a huge outreach to the community. Many turned to Christ that day. I had important work to do and trusted that God would see me through. He did. And then, as icing on the cake, He took the stones away. I never expected that, but what an amazing blessing.

Other times, He did not remove things that pained me. And that is okay. He will do what He will do, and I trust His judgment far over my own. Some things I just had to endure, and learn from it. Regardless, His grace is sufficient.

Sister, when God heals, it is not temporary. It sounds much more likely that the influence of the situation disposed you to a psychology that was strong enough to lessen your sensitivity to your leg issues for a time. The mind has a very powerful effect upon one's physical state - for good and ill.

Well did He not say where two or three are gathered in His name He is there? :) Did not Christ say to some YOUR FIATH has made you whole? So answer is yes. We need to know Satan will come in right away and try to lie .. we get some pain and say "oh well seems its gone" NO that is a lie. But our confession as in what we say we then believe aka FAITH that works both ways.

Also did not Christ say all things are possible to them that believe? Looking back on that.. it was not Christ but GOD that said it! So if GOD told you that..hello? If GOD told you.. who so ever? So if you get some random thought that you were not even thinking about telling you your not healed.. quote Isa 53:5 1st Peter 2 24 and "Behold, I give unto you power/authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Fear comes up.. confession.. yeap thats what this is. I say what GOD said since His words are life and not old "no God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind". Christ quoted the word PRAISE GOD. Hello His WORD is His will.

Sorry got lost here. Yes its of God!

The presence of Jesus does have a feeling to it (at times), one of peace like you described. It is interesting that it also has a temporary healing element. Maybe spend some time asking Him for His permanent healing power, even if you need to do it daily. The temporary may be a sign that healing is His desire for you.

That's an awesome testimony. Glad you were able to experience that. God knows how to reach each of us and isn't that audible voice truly amazing? I remember the first time I experienced that in school. I thought it was a friend telling me something as the voice came from over my left shoulder. When I questioned my friend, she said it was the holy spirit talking to me. Yes, those are powerful.

For the healing, I had been going up for prayer in my regular church each week asking for prayer for healing. This 1 pastor, most times as soon as he'd place his hand on my back, I'd feel peace flow thru my body and I'd receive the lightness and pain decrease in my legs. But typically, the pain would only stay away for 20 min up to several hours. But you could be right that someone somewhere had prayed for me. Last July, another pastor at my church started praying for me each Sunday. With him, I only felt the lightness/peace once. I wasn't sure what the difference was btwn him and others that prayed for me.

But I'll tell you, at that other church, I went up for prayer for that leg pain the one night and this gentleman who began praying for me said he felt like there was a blockage and that could be why I'm not being fully healed. He asked me if I hated my legs BC of the pain. I told him no but I do get angry and frustrated often BC of it. So he challenged me to start speaking affirmations to my legs and body and that might help. So.. I initially thought it was crazy what he said to do. But after being seated for 20 min, I gave it a try. And believe it or not, it worked. I started to feel lightness come up in my feet and calves and the pain decreased for several hours.

Could be right but I've experienced many times where the pain decreased for awhile, sometimes for several hours and then came back. The biggest instance was in school when kids prayed healing for me and I felt lightness and peace flow through my legs for a full 24 hrs and as I was praising and thanking him for healing me, I started to feel the lightness and peace leave and the heaviness and pain return. I rebuked all that in the name of Jesus, repeating that I am healed but the pain remained no matter how much I prayed.

I believe the Lord has blessed us all with different gifts. For example, a certain believer has a gift of worshipping through music, which brings about healing ( healing ministry ) for people present at that worship session. Not everyone gets healed but some. And I do know of people, who have been healed through their worship songs.

If you have ever seen people who get lost in the Lord's presence during praise & worship, this believer is exactly like that. They always seem to enter into another realm each time they are singing.

Then some people can pray for you just once & you will be delivered in no time, from something that you yourself had been struggling with & praying against for a number of years. God still honours our prayers though, despite being gifted or not. So we shouldn't be discouraged. God is very faithful.

No one prayed for me for healing that day.

^ you don't know that

often there are church groups that meet during the week
a group may have prayed for people attending church on the weekend & for healing for anyone that needs it that day

the Pastor mostly likely will pray for the congregation

any individual person attending church might also pray for others

my teen just went to a Christian teen weekend out of town
an email said that the teens were being prayed for before they attended
