  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is one I am not too sure about. It is mostly "proved" these days by T2. However, I see much disagreement on the relationship to chimps in the fact that there would appear to be too little time for the added human brain size to occur. I think we might make many more subsatntial discoveries in genetics yet and so will remain skeptical of the current understanding of T2.
And yes, I am aware it is the ancestor of chimps and humans we are talking about - just to save you the time.
SR.

The evolution from the common ancestor of chimps and humans is pretty well documented -- both from the bone and genetic lines of evidence. Consider the skulls that have been uncovered. There is a clear and gradual increase in cranial capacity (not to mention the development of whatever other head/facial features).

You'll have to elaborate on your line of reasoning here. You are aware of the transitional fossils, you are aware of the genetic evidence, you are aware that the evolution of the brain is at least possible, but you are going to put all of that evidence up on a shelf out of site and ignore it's conclusion because you don't yet understand how the brain could have evolved within a few hundred thousand years. I don't get it. Wouldn't it make more sense to accept the conclusion of the overwhelming evidence and then work towards filling in the gaps in our knowledge?

What is T2? Human/chimp common ancestry is supported by a wide range of genetic evidence. How much of it are you familiar with?

However, I see much disagreement on the relationship to chimps
Not among those in the field.

in the fact that there would appear to be too little time for the added human brain size to occur.
Please present your calculations.

I think we might make many more subsatntial discoveries in genetics yet and so will remain skeptical of the current understanding of T2.
Again, how much do you know about human and chimpanzee genetics?
