  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How exactly does the Vatican justify it's wealth?

I haven't expressed an opinion about whether the Vatican helps the poor enough (I agree with you, Nathan45, that they help the poor a great deal). My posts have been responsive to posts 1) asking whether atheists have ever helped the homeless; and 2) claiming that the church only maintains relics and historic buildings with architectural value.

Because Biblically, we aren't supposed to keep an trivial possessions. Of course some people do, but at least most will admit it. Especially coming from people who point and blame and condemn so many other people for "not recognizing their sins", you'd think the people of the Catholic church would more WILLINGLY admit that they're using money on keeping up something physical rather than using it to help people and reducing to a more modest lifestyle.

Also, there is enough food in the world. It's simply not evenly distributed and places where hungry is rampant is where it's most difficult to harvest it.
