How do you understand the portrayal of God in the Old Testament?

I got through the series. I liked a lot of his points, but I remain agnostic as to whether or not God actually commanded the slaughter of innocents. I am now listening to Dr. Jeannie Constantinou's commentary on the Book of Numbers.

and that's okay. we don't need all the answers. God knows. if/when He wants you to know, He'll let you. so it's okay to have questions and doubts. it's a good way to keep our faith from being blind.

Thank you for the kind words, Matt. I have also been listening to Jeainnie Constantinou's (sp?) "Search the Scriptures" podcast on AFR. It has been a good series.

yeah, she be a good one. and no problems. one of the liberating things about Orthodoxy is that you don't need to know everything right off the bat.
