    Hi there,

    One thing that really helps me to keep the right focus in life, is to start my day with the Lord, by reading scriptures. I normally spend the first few hours in the morning by reading the Bible. When I was working, I woke up a half-hour early and spent that time reading the Bible and praying. On my way to work, I prayed. It didn’t mean that everything was “roses” but I feel that it continued to build me up so that I didn’t feel crushed by the things going on around me.

    In May, I started to read the Bible through with a group of girlfriends and that has been both exciting, because we are not journeying alone, and enlightening. I’ve always felt that the best way to know how to handle life is to know the Word of God. You are so smart to look for verses in the Bible that help with the trials and temptations that you are dealing with.

    I believe the changes in our nature, as we draw closer to the Lord, draw us toward finding comfort from other people with the same mindset and sometimes that closes down or changes the relationships with our old friendships. I hope these two verses help you. God be with you as you continue to grow in Him.

    Isaiah 43:19

    Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. 19Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

    "temptation".. I believe you me are here in this time and age for a reason. There is NO temptation that can over take you. He has made away out every time :)

    Someone posted what I thought was really the best idea and the best way for a person to keep themselves pure.

    They said more or less just staying away from others who influence or intice us to do sinful things. This is really the best thing to do. But for overall mankind in general, most people in most situations it is impossible to always do this. The Bible shows this is the case as it explains how the Levitical Priesthood was designed to offer sacrifice and atonement for sin.

    Also, the New Testament explains that it is impossible to be perfect and impossible to always please God.

    All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. All we are can do it ask God to forgive us and repent.

    First of all, Good job coming here to christian advice and starting a thread, that is a great way to get a variety of views. The Bible says, "with a multitude of counselors there is safety."

    I sort of feel bad for young people today and how sex is shoved down their throat by both media and culture. Being unpure puts an undue burden to get married, at least in a christians life. See a relationship should be a friendship at first that slowly turns romantic during marriage. What christians should never do is marry the wrong person just so they can have sex. Not a good idea. So being friends is a critical part of the relationship. If you cannot culture the friendship than later on in marriage this person is simply going to annoy the heck out of you. The question of how to stay pure is a good one and one that we need to focus on. I recently seen on twitter this series posted, they are sort of long messages. But I have a feeling some of it will resonate, the context is college age christians trying to stay pure in their relationships, if I can find a way to download, I will for sure listen to these myself. I love this topic, I do have a teenage daughter myself.

    one more video I watched today. I have been using something called YTD youtube downloader, and converting youtube video's to mp3. It's just a way to learn while you drive, and today I had a hour long drive and I listened to three messages, this was one of them. This is a very good video, I love mark grungar: I highly recommend saving this video. He probably gets into more nitty gritty detail than most of others, but that may make him more unpopular. But I liked it.....he has a four hour seminar called the "tale of two brains full version on youtube."

    Here is the results of several podcasts I listened to on marriage and purity I hope it helps Godbless!
    Divorce rates are about 40-50% in general for first time marriage. For those who cohabitate before marriage, divorce goes up to 70% rate of divorce. The reason is commitment issues, because if they were committed they would be married. If a man says he loves a woman but doesn't commit, he does not truly love them (until he puts a ring on it. As the song goes).
    They are not committed by covenant. Its a covenant that says you are my final choice. Rather they are saying I love you till a better model comes along. Marriage says I ended my selection process when I married you. See in marriage you choose your love, then you love your choice. Ten years later studies have proven that those who go through divorce have anger and feelings of love still for their previous partner, they are still bonded as I will show in a second chemically to that person. That is because marriage is permanent according to God. Studies have shown that christian couples who wait to have sex till marriage, that the divorce rate drops from 50% to 5%. 95% of married couples who abstain until marriage stay together permanently. Sexual fulfillment among married women studies have said goes up exponentially. There is a chemical called oxytocin: its a bonding chemical released during breast feeding. It is also released during sexual encounters. Studies have shown that with each separate sexual encounter with separate partners that exytocin drops 50% on partner number 2, and 70% for partner number 3, and so on among women. That means that a women is less bonded to each subsequent partner.
    God knows what he is doing people stay abstinant. Now this is not to guilt shame at all, I fully understand that we all live in a sex saturated society. If you messed up in your past. Today is a new day. The Bible says the righteous man falls 7 times and rises again. Failure is not when you mess up but when you stop trying. That is the power behind the gospel of grace. God freely forgives all of our sins and gives us a new heart. The bible actually says that Jesus stands before the throne of father God and prays for us every day. THAT IS love. Embrace that love and victory today. Also if your partner is cheating on you or assaulting you the Bible gives full endorsement to divorce them. God understands there are times for that, but it should be the absolute last resort.

    You are surrounded by sin; it's not just a feeling.

    Good on you for wanting to put those things behind you. I understand that it isn't easy though. Still, I think of Our Lord being tempted by the devil. The devil tempted His human nature but the answer was always no.

    It isn't easy. St. Paul wrote about the thorn in his side. It's a struggle common to all. Do your best.

    This may cross sectarian lines somewhat but I say a Hail Mary when I feel great temptation. This has been very effective at helping me manage my temptation. Other prayers have been less effective than that one.

    Hello VMaeLove, this is a blind post, so I apologize if most of this has already been discussed in your thread. Here are some verses that may help (you will probably notice a theme to them as well).

    First off, 1 Thessalonians 4:3 begins by saying something to us that we rarely see stated so directly in the Bible, and I believe that it is worth taking special note of here since it says, "This Is The Will Of God". And what is God's will for you, "Your Sanctification". That said, here are the verses that I was referring to.

    Deuteronomy 11
    18 You shall impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
    19 You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.
    20 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
    21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.

    p.s. - in the end, the thing that did me (far and away) the most good, was memorizing Scripture, because that meant that for the first time in my life 1. my mind/my thinking was always filled, from the moment I awoke to the time I went back to sleep, with God's word (rather than more of this world's junk, or the stale/foul, mental garbage that used to fill my mind and plague my thought-life that was a carryover from my non-Christian days) and 2. the HS could use my memorized verses and passages to help keep me from sinning (it becomes much harder to sin when He keeps bringing your memorized verses/passages to the forefront of your mind ;), verses that remind you who you are, Who you belong to, and why you shouldn't sin).

    It will take a lot of effort on your part to do Scripture memory work, but I promise you that the blessings that you receive from it will far outweigh any effort that you put into it (both for yourself, and for others whose lives you touch). I used/use the Navigator's Topical Memory System, just FYI (which has Apple and Android apps now, which I also highly recommend).

    How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word.

    Also, when trying to purify my own life, I had to take a break from too much sensuality on TV. I am not being legalistic, but that really really helped. you don't feed the monster that way. I stopped it temporarily to re introduce it at a later date, it's been about a year, and I haven't missed it. But it is not to say I don't watch movies, but I typically watch children movies. I watched a halmark christmas movie tonight and patterns of evidence documentary on the exodus. Yesterday I watched polar express, we watch it every year with my boys. But I used to watch every single Marvel TV show out, every single new action movie. I have done that for the last ten years. But this is the first year I stopped. And it's amazing how much more your productive. Not saying at all that one cannot watch TV, or watch a show they love. But I just thought I would miss it more than I did. I was actually ok, with just doing other stuff. But TV shows have a lot of sensuality, and if that is what you struggle with, in your mind. Then reducing that over all input, will help. At least for awhile, while you create new habits to form your new lifestyle of purity. Then after awhile, you can reintroduce some stuff back, that you really can't live without. Mine was polar express. I love that movie.

    The single greatest remedy for sin is to know God, to love Him above all things, and to delight in walking with Him every day. When God is your "divine obsession," sin will diminish to a pale, sickly shadow in comparison to the joy and fulfillment you obtain in fellowship with your Maker. (Matthew 22:36-38; 1 John 4:16-19)

    First of all I feel that I need to pray for you. Father God, I bring you this lovely person, who is your child. She needs to feel peace and rest. Comfort her Father God as only You can do. Let her experience beauty, joy, hope and a sense of well-being. Surround her with love. Let her know that You love her so much and care about her needs. Help her to find a place of focus that will shut out the world and the darkness. Help her to see Your Light. In the name of Jesus, Amen

    Secondly, you may need someone to come along side of you and be an encourager. I suggest you call this number-855 382 5433-and share your need. They can lead you to resources that will help you in your time of need. We all need a little help as we walk in this dark place, the world just doesn’t always offer that. We all need comfort every once a while, some of us more than others. So do not be afraid or discouraged in asking for help. Actually asking is a better thing than continuing to walk in despair. Asking for help is the place to find HOPE and we all need hope. I am continuing to pray for you. God bless you.
