I know this is a slightly stupid question, but I really want to get into either Youth Ministry or Writing Christian books/articles for and about youth! I have an online Christian youth community and I have a column that i'm trying to write more often, but is there any advice or anything! ^^ I just wanna work for the Lord and help youth to understand Him and all the wonderful treasures He has in store for them.

I do need prayer to get a good home church. I have left my last church and I really want a good church were I can grow, there aren't cliques and I can help youth thru my church! And by youth I generally mean teenagers to young adults. Ok I'll end now but if you guys have any comments please leave them, thanks!

I am in full time ministry and have found that when God gives you a passion for something and you are willing to pursue that, He will equip you, better than any institution can. I also worked with youth for a few years in a church context and the people who were the most effective were those with a real passion for what they did, not necessarily the ones with book knowledge. So don't wait to go to college, and get a degree and then start with youth ministry. Go find a church and just tell them you would love to be involved in youth ministry right now, and do whatever they allow you to do, because through that you will learn the real world stuff. Or do what I did, I started a inter church group for teens from churches where there are no word based groups. Feel free to mail me if you want to.

since you seem to be writing already i'd also keep going with that. find some serious editorial critique and start submitting articles to publications you're familiar with and think you know something about. picking up a writer's market guide (2004 Writer's Market or Christian Writer's Market Guide 2004 for example) will help you know how best to submit stories and provide some good contact info but most publications have guidlines on their websites as well.

^__^ Thank you both!! This is good advice. Actually in the prayer request thread I asked for prayer about a job interview.. it's a job for Youth Outreach!! I'm so thankful to God about it. SO that'll be a start there. Also chicagokid, I am in Writer's Digest Book Club (and writing course), so definitely i have access to those. I just finished another article so i may post it here (in the anime section). Thankies!!

It sounds like to me you are doing the right things but having a good home church that you are faithful to is so important.. Pray where God wants you, it may be a place to serve instead of a place to grow. you will grow as you seek him first and others second..
