Clearly, the evening news focuses on the bad and ignores the good. That brings in ratings. People understandably want to be instantly aware of threats and disasters, since they might be affected if they are taken unawares. Good news can always wait. Unfortunately, this awareness also distorts their perception of reality and can bring down their moods.

When I look at the earth, I see the good outweigh the bad. I see that most people are *gasp* not terrorists! I see that most people are not shooting at each other. I see that most people are loving and have loved ones who they cherish. I see that most people have a desire to be good people.

I understand that my perception is "anecdotal". However, it is clear to me that there is quite a bit of heaven on earth.

I disagree people abuse those who are weaker, such as the elderly, children, women, the disabled.

There are virtually no laws in THe U.S to protect the elderly because this culture views them as "worthless".

There are those who see the poor as deserving to be poor and health care as a luxery rather than a right.

Most of these views which are very prevelent in U.S society outweigh the concept of people having dignity and worth.


So I really don't believe Heaven is on this earth. Rather it's a nasty, nasty place where the disadvantaged are taken advantage of.

For whatever reason you seem to ignore all those social problems that have been prevented or alleviated before the tragic news story - and therefore never have become a tragic news story and therefore didn´t make it to the news.

All those problems that don´t exist, to begin with. Those events you never hear about, because they have been prevented. Where I live I see a couple of issues daily being prevented by persons who care, but since I do not live in America, they don´t match the conditions of your question.
Picking just one major example about America: How do you value the development in matters of slavery and racism, for example? What do you identify as the reasons/causes for this development?

Heaven is an actual place. Hell is a holding chamber for the wicked who are waiting for the Day of Judgment. Once they are judged, then they will be sentenced and cast into the everlasting Lake of Fire.

They both exist. You can not see them with the naked human eye, but trust me; they are more real than you are.

Go to U.C. Berkeley and go to their Physics department. Ask them about dimensions! Ask them how many dimensions they know about and can see traces of? Last I heard there were 18 dimensions that the boys were researching.

I submit to you that GOD is in all of them and rules all of them. Why do you think angels, when they appear, look shiny? How was it that Jesus was not in the room and then 'Wham'! He is right in their midst (John 20, Luke 24)??? Physics! Dimensions that you and I do not run in; but He does!!!

Oh my friend, Hell is very much real. Heaven is very very much real. That is why us Christians are so passionate to let you know of the Truth of God and His eternal realms. All of them.

Again...the Lake of Fire and torment is here on earth. It's especially evident when religious people run around informing others they aren't going to heaven because the individual does not believe X, Y, and Z.

Catlover, I understand what your saying and tend to get pessimistic but at the same time, there is a lot of good to be seen. Of course it's difficult react to a problem that we're not aware of, that's probably impossible. Maybe you could involved yourself in events where people are trying to help others. I took a public policy class so I can complete a degree in social work so that maybe where my pessimism is from. .
