Didn't watch the video. Sorry. But I don't need to. Scripture tells me how I know the Spirit dwells within me:
1.) Conviction (John 16:8)
2.) Strengthening (Ephesians 3:16; Philippians 2:13; Romans 8:13; Philippians 4:13)
3.) Illumination (John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16)
4.) Comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
5.) Discipline (Hebrews 12:5-11)
6.) Transformation (Galatians 5:22-23; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 5:9)
Some of the effects of the Spirit's work in me will be:
- a love of the brethren (1 John 3:14)
- a desire for holiness (1 John 2:4-6; Galatians 6:14)
- a hunger for the word of God (Jeremiah 15:16)
- an ever-deepening desire to know and commune with God (Philippians 3:7-10; Psalms 42:2; Psalms 63:1)
When I'm discipling men, I emphasize particularly what the Spirit does in them rather than the effects of his work manifesting in their conduct. On a superficial level, we can manufacture the effects of the Spirit's work - obedience to God's laws, religious activity, Bible study, etc. - but the things the Spirit does to us cannot be counterfeited.
