They don't believe in eternal torture for those who fail
to convert to Christianity. (Jehovah's Witnesses and I think
Christian Scientists are the same way.)
So, where's the hook? Christianity has such an insipid
"carrot" (eternal celibacy, singing praises ect. in Heaven - how's
that better than oblivion, reincarnation or a million other possibilities?)
that it needs the "stick" (threats of eternally being forced
to do knuckle pushups while being sodomized with flaming tridents
while listening to Elton John or whatever) as a matter of
course.
So, how do torture-after-death denying sects of Christianity get
converts? Barring dire threats, I'd think most folks would prefer to sleep in
on Sundays nursing their hangovers...

Christians are drawn to our Lord Jesus because of His wonderous Love. Fear has nothing to do with either Jesus or Christianity, and those who erringly attempt to come to our Lord out of fear fall away back into the darkness rather quickly.

Feel free to "sleep in on Sundays nursing your hangovers," but perhaps it is best that you speak only for yourself when proclaiming such silliness.

Ironically Those who want the carrot or fear the stick miss the whole point of true "Christianity."

Christianity is about love and the freedom to express that love Through Jesus any way we see fit.

I believe that the reasons the seventh day adventist are able to get converts is because their religious practices speak to a group of people who wish to worship in a way that abides by strict adherences to their collective interpretations of the Law. To them this is how "Love" is shown to God through Jesus. There is freedom in True Christianity, even enough to bind yourself with it, if that what you wish or need.

Adventists seem to pay more attention to the Bible than many other denominations. They pay attention to prophecy. That's about a third of the Bible. They pay attention to all 10 commandments. That is at least one more than most other denominations. The Bible is powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. That power draws people, and that respect for truth draws people. The word of the Lord is right and all of his works are done in truth. Some people are drawn to truth. Some people are drawn to the power of the awe of God. Some people are concerned about the future either of the world or their own place in that future. These people are all drawn to Seventh Day Adventism. I am a seventh day baptist, and I attend a seventh day adventist church.
