  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How did you choose your denomination?

1Cor 13:4-7 defines Love according to the Bible a mature Christian would be one who would never knowingly step on that what defines Love, a mature christian would be one who walks in Love at all times under all conditions, the Bible by whos authority we should follow states God is Love and that we are to Love God and Love our neighbors, ALL of them, should not all we do and say be done with Love as defined in 1 Cor13:4-7, if anyone of us as deciples of Christ step on the manners--fruits of Love then we are in error , if we walk in Love this does not make us lukwarm this makes us obdient to Gods Word which we all seem so eager to agrue about, it never ceases to amaze me how we can complicate the commandment that Christ made so simple and was such a good example of to Love God and to Love our neighbor. walking in Love is not lukewarm, however saying you Love and not walking in Love may very well be lukewarm if not cold completly. God is Love according to the Bible a mature christian not only reconizes this but lives his life accordingly. contention, strife, does the bible state these are things of God or of evil?? should the body of Christ have strife and contention within itself?? if the individual or the church allows contention and strife within themselves have they allowed the devil to enter where he ought not be. we all alreadty know the answers to these questians it just a matter of accepting the truth and making the needed changes of coarse thats hard because to do so we must first admitt we are in error and pride and vanity can make that very hard to do.

What does home "feel" like ?

Should we try to fit God into our pre-conception ?

1Co:2:11: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Home "feels" like a place where you feel welcome and comfortable and accepted, a place where you can worship and praise God with other people who you don't feel uncomfortable or inhibited around.

I see no reason why God has to fit into any preconception we may have of home. Feeling at home refers to the church you attend, not what you believe about God.

I've always been non-denominational because that's what my parents were. Specifically my dad is ex-Catholic and my mom was raised as a conservative Presbertyrian. They go by "what the Bible teaches, no man-made rules."
And they don't know that Sunday worship services is a man-made tradition ?
Follow Christ's example of observing the 7th day sabbath.
He knows best !

He told His followers......
20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I [am] the LORD your God.

Yes, the Bible also says this about the sabbath:

Romans 14 5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Colossians 2 16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Still, all that is pretty off-topic in regards to how you choose your denomination.

Jesus never said this.

Christ is the Way, and not works of Law. He Himself, is the fulfillment and is Himself our Rest, our Sabbath. Everything has been taken up in HIM.

I am curious as to how everyone chose the denomination or church they presently attend. I am not exactly a new christian but I have never actively attended or been a member of a church. My father was Irish Catholic and my mother German Presbyterian (what a mix eh?). I attended Sunday school for a short time and have visited a few churches over the years but I find myself now without any religious friends of any kind..the few friends who have not moved away are very anti-religion. Never grew up with it and have no interest in it now. I would really like the fellowship with like-minded individuals but...where to start? If I don't even have a specific denomination to narrow things down...wow. This has been the problem my entire adult life..and I am very shy when first getting to know people. So my question is..for those of you who did not have a specific denomination from childhood, or changed as an adult, how did you make that decision?

Well here one for you: I was born and raised Jewish and Knew Jesus as persnol saviour, In fact I didnt changed my religion as much that I changed my faith.

I looked arround and attend many churchs (if you wana call them denomination) but found a good place in one only. Thats base on my believes as new Christian, based on the relation with other members (how friendly they are not hipocryte) and about how the preacher preach (for me it was important that he will use "we" have to do not "you" have to do). :)

I am non-denominational, and if I ruled the world (;)) there would be no denominations - only Bible believing, Bible following Christians.

I don't like religions that include extra-Biblical doctrine as a mandate for followers. I don't like man made rules. I don't even like things that people do for the sake of tradition. But that's just me.
:amen: This is exactly the reason I am nondenom. My profile may say I am baptist, but that needs to be updated, but I can't figure out how. Does anyone know how? Back to the issue, I absolutely hate it when people do things "for the sake of tradition"!! This is called "religion"!! It is the enemy of a relationship with God!!!!:preach: May God bless you all!!!

You can PM any mod and they can change your denomination for you. They made it so you can't do it yourself because too many trolls were running into Christian Only forums and spouting off non-Christian ideas, then changing back to athiest (or whatever) after they'd stirred the pot.

also, i'm gonna pray to God, and hopefully by the power of Discernment God gives me, i'll see the true church he wants me to be in. i'm tettering on the brink of Catholicism, and High-Church Conservative Anglicanism/Epicopalianism.
