This is where growing up in [non-Calvinist] Church tradition can have it's disadvantages. Extended exposure can easily have such an influence as to attach theological blinders from conditioning. This is one how, another is simply that Scripture involves Spirit, or spiritual discernment, which is to say, it is not like reading a history textbook or science textbook. The flesh works against the Spirit, the carnal mind rejects the things that are of the Spirit, and works at suppressing the truth. The default nature of man does not lend itself towards proper interpretation of the Word of God.

That is true. My family doesn't even know they are Arminian. They haven't heard of the doctrines of grace, yet they staunchly interpret everything they read with an Arminian bent to the point of ignoring passages. And its not malicious at all. It is just from years of exposure to a particular interpretation.

I once have that view... you know acts of God and man go together.. synergistic. But now I came through realize the truth... it is the work of GOD alone! Monergistic,

By reading the Bible a lot as a new converted to get acquainted with the Bible story, I had no idea about Bible persons..I knew i was blind and was not really looking for God prior to salvation..was His doing totally. I was assured that no one could undo what He has done for me or take me away from Him or much less erase my name from the book of life. impossible. He opened my eyes to see and understand and really crave for more and more.

That's the thing; for me, I was raised Roman Catholic.
