    Hey, forums.

I suppose I am just seeking for advice on how to go back to God after a relapse of sin.
Since recently, I have just been bombarded with temptation. Last night I sealed the deal and have found myself back to where I was 1 year ago.

What makes me sad is how many times I have repeated this same sin willfully over again, there are no more sacrifices for these sins, they are deliberately commited. (Someplace in Hebrews)

It is true when people say you feel completely empty. I am a huge utter twa* for doing it and I just want to set my mind and soul in the right direction.

There is no sin too big for God to forgive. Most people focus on Gods judgment and not enough focus on the fact he is a God of forgiveness as well.

Hebrews 10:26-28 I believe, this used to be a passage I feared. Here's what helped me: Hebrews speaks of willful sin, that's different from willing sin. Not that willing sin is good, but that willful sin isn't just (I'm gonna make up an example) I really want one of these cigarettes. Just one won't hurt... knowing I'll easily get addicted. Wilful sin is sinning as an in-Your-Face to God. It's not just tempted and went with it but now I feel guilty it's like I'm going to go do this specifically because You said not to and I don't care what You say. Make sense?

Another thing is the verb tense, it kind of implies continuing in wilful sin. So not only sinning to spite God but refusing to stop. Ongoing fighting against God. Glad to hear it helps though.

If we couldn't come back for backsliding then no one would ever enter heaven. But thankfully He forgives all no matter what. Look at the fact that someone is considered a pedophile and murdered can actually become saved and still go to heaven. I mean logically we humans are so confused by that. But if the person has really repented and is saved then all is forgiven.

Of course there are some actions we do that effects our "Treasures" in heaven. Not sure what those treasures are but I'm sure I will be losing some.

Oooh me too but hey, I'm good with sitting on the ground. The floor in heaven with no treasure is better than a spot in the fires with all worldly treasures. Just being there's enough for me. Maybe I'll be ashamed I wasn't as good as everyone else or as I could have been, but I think at the end of the day I'm good with just a little patch of dirt to sit in.

Speaking of porn, if the actress says "You wouldn't be watching if you didn't like it"? Does this mean I like it? Not speaking from personal experience of course just a hypothetical.

I was thinking the same about myself actually. I'm going to try this:
Go back to square one. The basics.
I screwed up. I'm human after all.
Repent and say what you really feel. "I feel like an utter **** God, but here I am again asking for your forgiveness. Help me wake up and set me straight. I know my life is ******, without you"

Hebrews 12.2 says we should keep 'looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the Cross, despising the shame'.

I use to be a person who would beat himself up for sin, but I got to the point of understanding of God where although I wished I wasn't a sinner, I no longer beat myself up for being one. I focus on Gods grace and the fact that every sin I ever done, and will do in the future, Jesus Christ blood paid for it. And I know I would've done the same thing for all my brothers and sisters in Christ so its really just a team effort.

I don't know your personal situation but the fact that you want to repent is cause to believe your not a hopeless sinner. In you, assuming you are a Christian, are two guys that look, think and act just like you and you are in the middle. One of them is going to win and you will either be a slave to righteousness of a slave to sin, there is no third choice. As far as the Hebrews passage repentance there is with regards to the gospel, if you understand the message and experience the power of God and then reject it there is no hope, you have quenched the grace of God. If that happens your a child of perdition and not only will you never be able to repent, you would be unable to care.

I've struggled with this myself and I can tell you from personal experience God's lessons of grace will crush your soul because his mercies are new every morning.

In the final hours of darkness, in the garden where He prayed,
“Oh Father, take this cup from Me. Is there any other way?”
As His prayer was turned to pleading; His sweat was turned to blood
“Oh Father, come prepare Me now, Your will not Mine be done”
So the thousand came to take the one, and there He was betrayed
By the kiss that found forever the Lamb who would be slain
And when they asked, “Which One is Jesus?” He spoke these simple words,
And a thousand soldiers fell before, the answer that changed the world

“I am He”, He said, “It is I you seek, I’m the One you want, I am He.
You have found me now, I am the one, You have come for Me, I am He. I am”

In my final hours of darkness in the garden of my search
the weeds had grown around me like thorns around the word
I saw my sin before me and I felt my heart grow numb
“O father come renew me now, Your will not mine be done.”
And I saw my vain religion, turn the poor away
I saw countless unborn children my neglect had surely slain
And I said, “Lord I need your healing, for your word cuts like a knife”
And when I cried, “Oh God where is my strength?” His answer changed my life
“I am He”, He said, “It is I you seek, I’m the One you want, I am He.
You have found me now, I am the one, You have come for Me, I am He. I am” (“I Am He” Terry Talbot)
Seek and keep on seeking, you must never doubt that the one who makes the promise is faithful. Our pitiful sins wrap around us and try to entice us to hopeless surrender, your hope is not in your own power but the one who called you to repentance. I hope you will forgive the length of the quote but when things are the darkest for me, when I feel I have no strength left and I turn to God saying I give up. The grace of God comes shinning through and it's as if God reaches down and grabs and and says, it's about time.

Get your eyes off your sin, look up and ask God to take you as you are and make you what he wants you to be. Jesus used to look at his Apostles and tell them, Oh ye of little faith. So sin isn't just beating you but getting you down and kicking you, that should be telling you something about sin. If you could do it on your own then Christ died for nothing. You don't need a pep talk, you need to go to the only source of righteousness in the universe, God himself.

I hope that helps a little, I wish you great success on your journey. Keep believing the one who made the promise is faithful and every now and then just thank him for what meager progress your making. That could make all the difference and you have no idea what God can do with someone who clings to that little mustard seed of faith when they have failed miserably.

I don't mean that as a sermon, I've just been there too many times.

    Grace and peace,
    Mark

"backsliding" is a problematic, and I suggest you drop it from your vocabulary. People sin, it's what we do. God forgives, it's what he does. All's right with the world (to paraphrase Oscar Wilde). Yeah, it hurts to know you screw up, but what really hurts you even more is to trust in your own ability to not screw up. Trust instead in God's willingness to forgive.
