I'm sorry, Kota, what I posted earlier was too harsh and uncalled-for and I shouldn't have said it. It's just that there does seem to be so much in what you've posted about "giving up" things that most Christians (and other people!) find to be a good and normal and happy part of life. It saddens me that anyone could think Christianity is mainly about asceticism and needlessly making oneself miserable for God's sake. That's what I was saying about the Christmas thing — if you feel convinced that Christmas as most of us know it is not right, but then feel sad at giving it up (as you said you were), why not just find a simpler and more deeply Christian way of celebrating it rather than throwing it away entirely?
That, connected with a thread about whether there's anything "wrong" with hobbies, did come across to me as promoting a version of Christianity that's all about rejecting even the good and harmless joys of normal human life, which is what I unkindly over-reacted to. I do think (and I've experienced this myself) that if you find that a hobby is taking over your life in a way that distracts you from your devotion to God, it probably would be better to give it up or at least lessen your involvement in it. But if it's something that brings you joy, expresses your creativity, brings you into good and constructive friendships with others who share that interest, and maybe even gives you the chance to express your love for God in some way, then there's surely nothing wrong with it.
You'll know what is or isn't right for you as your walk with Him continues.
Again, I'm sorry I wrote so harshly before.
