Copperhead reminds us that today begins Yom Kippur, Friday at sunset - Day of Atonement starting this evening .. two Sabbaths joining... the weekly Bible creation Sabbath memorial and also the Day of Atonement Sabbath -- an annual Sabbath of Lev 23 with liturgy given in Lev 16

After all, that is a commandment from the Lord regarding Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. I will be, but then, I don't argue that anyone is required to do as I do.

So then let's talk about that - Yom Kippur.. The Day of Judgment.

Yom Kippur means Day of Atonement. Judgement Day

=============================

It is a day of judgment, but it is also the Day of Atonement.

On the Biblical calendar, the 10th day of the 7th month is the appointment known as Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur means Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement is the Holiest day of the Biblical year. It is a day of intense prayer, fasting and calling out to God for mercy and grace. It is a day for doing business with God. It is a day for coming face to face with God.

Judgment Day
Yom Kippur comes just ten days after Rosh Hashanah. Ten days prior to Yom Kippur, the Torah commands us to blow the shofar on Rosh Hashanah. One of the reasons for blowing the shofar is as a warning that a period of judgment has begun. According to Jewish tradition, the Gates of heaven swing open on Rosh Hashanah. The Heavenly Court is convened on Rosh Hashanah. The Books of Judgement opened on Rosh Hashanah. The heavenly ledgers are scrutinized on Rosh Hashanah.

Rosh Hashanah begins a period of ten days of judgment. The ten days end with the conclusion of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. On Yom Kippur, the judgment is sealed. The books are closed. The gavel falls. Every human being is inscribed either in the book of life or the book of death. One last, long shofar sounds at the end of the day as the gates of heaven swing shut and close.

=============================

You see the "Day of Judgment" in antitype in Daniel 7

The Ancient of Days Reigns
9 “I kept looking
Until thrones were set up,
And the Ancient of Days took His seat
;
His vesture was like white snow
And the hair of His head like pure wool.
His throne was ablaze with flames,
Its wheels were a burning fire.
10 “A river of fire was flowing
And coming out from before Him;
Thousands upon thousands were attending Him,
And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him;
The court sat,
And the books were opened.

More about Yom Kippur -- Day of Atonement... Day of Judgment

From - Judaism 101: Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur is probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. Many Jews who do not observe any other Jewish custom will refrain from work, fast and/or attend synagogue services on this day. Yom Kippur occurs on the 10th day of Tishri. The holiday is instituted at Leviticus 16:29-30.

The Day of Atonement
The name "Yom Kippur" means "Day of Atonement," and that pretty much explains what the holiday is. It is a day set aside to "afflict the soul," to atone for the sins of the past year. In Days of Awe, I mentioned the "books" in which G-d inscribes all of our names. On Yom Kippur, the judgment entered in these books is sealed. This day is, essentially, your last appeal, your last chance to change the judgment, to demonstrate your repentance and make amends.

As I noted in Days of Awe, Yom Kippur atones only for sins between man and G-d, not for sins against another person. To atone for sins against another person, you must first seek reconciliation with that person, righting the wrongs you committed against them if possible. That must all be done before Yom Kippur.

Another interesting source comments on this --

from https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1979/03/yom-kippur-and-judgment-day

The most solemn occasion in Israel's prophetic calendar was Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement. Other holy days in the Jewish ceremonial year included feasting; but this convocation was the annual official fast. No work was to be done on this "sabbath of sabbaths." Instead men "afflicted their souls" by penitential prayer, believing that on that day Heaven was investigating their lives prior to the decision of the judgment for life or death. 1

The Day of Atonement was a sealing time. "May God Almighty seal you to a new year" was a common Jewish greeting as Yom Kippur dawned. Not only was it at the beginning of the new year, which came nine days earlier, but this special ceremony also marked the ushering in of the jubilee every half century. It also was the precursor of the Feast of Tabernacles, the feast marked by unparalleled rejoicing. Once the solemnities of the Day of Atonement were over, all was unexcelled joy and happiness.
