• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Figured I'd mention it, if your doctor is suggesting cardio Ablation. However they're too lazy or unwilling to entertain a cause. It maybe good to seek a second opinion for the following.
I know someone going through this that only when they eat, anything they have irregular or rapid beats.
The Vagus Nerve can also be affected by hiatal hernia.

I'm also new to the site.

Even laying down on a certain side more or less increases the palpitations.
The Vagus Nerve can also be affected by hiatal hernia. The Vagus nerve regulates or slows heart rate.
When its under pressure because of this type of hernia or somehow affected the heart may respond by increasing its rate. Whelp hope that helps someone.

I'm also new to the site.

Please be careful, as this violates a site rule:

CF Terms and Rules said:
Please do not give professional, legal, financial, medical, or other counseling. Do not direct, imply, or suggest that others should disregard doctors' orders regarding medical diagnosis and/or treatment.

I understand that you're just trying to provide medical information, that's what this section is for, but please try to avoid negative comments about doctors please. Thanks!

There is a very brief 3 minute window the forum system has, on edits.. After that point its not possible to edit...

Can I request that be expanded to 10 minutes? I double posted because the edit button does not work after three minutes, and i type slowly. if i left the original post as is, without a follow up people would know it was incomplete or not make any sense.
can you get the edit time limit lengthened to 10 minutes or more ? That would give me time to recognize typos or forgotten info and edit in time. Thanks.

1 Can I ask clarification on exactly how that violates a rule in the medical section?

2 There are bad doctors , what if we experience medical malpractice? how do we inform one another of our personal experiences? Ive had many through my life. Im not providing professional medical council i think that much is obvious to most people.

Whose going to actually perform medical procedures on themselves without their primary doctor? The topic is the heart. they would need to perform their own surgery. So i think the second thing you said makes no logical sense.

exactly why i mention it. because the doctor didnt research what was going on. they wanted to go straight to the surgery. This at least gives people a heads up of what could, actually be the cause.

and that kinda hernia pushes into the heart cavity. and there's very little room in that space. so even that slight pressure or movement arraignment could trigger it. Hope you feel better and you find what solution is right for you soon. I understand the dangers of irregular beats and clots. so be sure to listen to your doctor within reason concerning that too. my friend is on anti clotting just in case. but some meds even if 5mg are really strong with side effect.

The post looked you were saying "if your doctor is suggesting cardio ablation, they are lazy and unwilling to entertain a cause". This looked like you were saying to avoid that surgery even if your doctor suggested it.

I think you were trying to say "figured I'd say it, if your doctor is suggesting cardio ablation and if they are lazy and unwilling to entertain a cause," which is a rather friendly and supportive thing to say and totally allowed. Apologies if I'm still misunderstanding you.

here is a very brief 3 minute window the forum system has, on edits.. After that point its not possible to edit...

I think this changes after you make 25 posts, after which the edit button becomes a permanent and functional fixture.

I don't know why it is like that here, but on other sites I've worked on the edit timers were in place to avoid spammers editing spam links into posts after the moderators approved them.

As far as I know, talking about your personal experiences is good and permitted by the rules, including these types of personal experiences. I'm sorry that I misunderstood you.

I think its different in todays society. Different as there are different causes.
My friend is not physically active and very overweight... His diaphragm muscles have weakened a lot through he years. Id even call him somewhat atrophied. Im trying to encourage him to change.
How does pradaxa affect the hernia?

I'm not sure I have one. I've never mentioned it to my doctor. But they run in the family. I suppose I've never said anything about it, because there's nothing that can be done about them really, and it doesn't bother me much.

The pill doesn't give me any problems as long as I take it with enough liquid to make sure it doesn't get stuck in the esophagus.
