Citing ancient precedent, HG Bishop Rafael, secretary of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, has demanded that a church be allowed to be built at the site of the martyrdom of Coptic Christians in the recent bus attack.
We shall see now where al Sisi and Co. really are on the 'Coptic question'. As I remember, attempts to build a church in the village of two of the new martyrs of Libya were blocked after the common "security concerns" were invoked (read: Muslims will go on a rampage because they simply cannot deal with having a new church in their midst), though to be fair in that case I don't remember if that was the final outcome or if they were able to press on and eventually have the church built.
May God's will prevail, and may the prayers and intercessions of the holy martyrs help lay the foundation of the church which will surely bear their name.
