Happy, I can honestly say that I am thrilled that you have given up on something that made you so miserable, and live a life now that you can enjoy.
You admitted that their was a problem and you asked for the greatest help and support that you knew. :)

I would like to come in on this debate. My brother was "gay". He is now dead so I can tell you this. He was only a baby when it was obvious that he was different. He never played with boys toys and loved dolls. He grew up in a world that had no compassion as far as he was concerned. He was a lovely lad, gentle, kind and totally genuine.I truly believe that we are born "gay" or "straight" I won`t say normal for what is normal. Have you thought that it is just as abhorant for someone who is "gay" to contemplate being intimate with someone of the opposite sex as it is for someone who is "straight" to contemplate being with someone of the same sex.My brother worked hard in this world and made something of himself. I was and am very proud of him and say that there but for the grace of God it could be us.I have found that "gay" people make the truest friends. Surely we all know that there is no barrier to the love of God.

wow. Now that I think about it when I was a little girl I didn't play with dolls or get into any of that girly stuff either. Hmmmmmmmmm....So does that mean I can consider myself gay?

No.It just means you didn't like dolls. No biggie. There are some guys who are nurses. Does that mean they are homosexual? Or there are women who like playing football. Does that mean they are homosexual?

Ok, lets all remember that the fellowship isnt the best place for a debate/discussion to happen.. And remember everybody be nice, and also remember everyone has their own opinions. That wasnt directed towards anybody in specific, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows to be friendly :)

Happy when you asked if you should be gay because you didnt play with dolls, or anything like that when you were younger.. I dont think that psalmist was generalizing it like that, they were just stating that about their own brother.
AND.. here is my question on the homosexuality topic.. Here is where I have a couple of issues~~not necessarily going either way, with I agree or disagree:
Sure, it says in the Bible, that homosexuality is bad/sinful.
    Leviticus 18:22
*You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.*
    Leviticus 20:13
*If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.*
I could go on, with scriptures about it, but here it is.. If becoming/being gay or lesbian is wrong, why are they so many people in the world that are so called "corrupted"? Sure the devil sends you temptation, and its up to you to resist or fall into it, but it just seems like there is more than just a temptation issue here. I could see if only a few people "thought" they were gay but there are millions out there. So I dont know how to take that, is there something missing chemically in their brain or not? is it truly a sin or not? Are all gay people going to hell, because they chose otherwise? Gay people look at hetrosexual people the same way as one would look at a gay person. Its wrong.
Ok, I'm sorry, I think I'm starting to confuse myself here, with all of these twists and turns in my little statement :). Sorry.
I could try and explain better, I just dont want anything that I have to say come out the wrong way, because I know what the bible says about homosexuality, but I for one dont know if I can truly just accept that. So, if there are questions, or comments on what I had to say, please be kind :D

Hey, don't worry about it. It is a confusing subject anyways. And isn't it said somewhere that the devil is the aurthor of confusion?
Hey Psalmist, I thought about the whole matter.......no hard feelings, okay?

    Dear Mod,
Maybe this should be moved then? The is a highly debated subject in my opinion. On the questions on Leviticus, some of those were addressed on the "Are you condemned for being gay" thread similar and indepth like this one. What confuses me about Lev is that it also states eating certain foods are a sin among other items we don't think about bec we do not follow the law like Jews but Jesus as Christians. So, if we are following Lev, should we be repenting for eating pork in thee meantime? This is confusing. Then one person suggested that these laws were made for man in his best interest. Back then, pork could cause serious health issues or death. God made these rules for us to live healthier lives and avoid dangers. Today it also applies bec of the well known AID's epidemic. So Liviticus is a wash (strong term I know)to me in some respect on the sin issue. I then turn tho the new testament. I will cut and paste from the other thread in a moment on this......

I think I put it on this section of the forum incorrectly too. I did not realize this was a no-debate type of section, sorry. Where should we place debating threads (when I say debate- It is a positive term to me BTW) Thanks. Take care!

"He was only a baby when it was obvious that he was different. He never played with boys toys and loved dolls. He grew up in a world that had no compassion as far as he was concerned."

This first part, where you suggest he wanted to play with girls toys? This can very well be an indication. I recently read a book on raising little girls (written by a female) which states these differences, partly of which you are speaking, ARE in fact noticeable from birth. So, it would make sense that you are correct in your observations. He was different in my opinion and many others'. It was not his fault as he was biologically, or rather genetically pre-disposed. I don't need a research study to clearly see that. It is common sense. This is why I try to have more compassion for these people - other than many Christians, unfortunately.

As I stated on my other thread, I think God's word rules of course. But I still wonder why God would allow such a conflict?? I just don't get it!? Again though if I am born with blue hair and God claims it is a sin? I'll cut it off or die it according to his word. I know the human brain does not have the capacity to understand God's thoughts as an ant cannot understand mine. I just simply believe and move on. Jesus did instruct us to accept everyone though, even the "hated" tax collector! I just wish in the name of Christ, I could give these people some comfort from God's word. I mean, because they are drawn to this, they must feel deep down like they are evil from the start.:sigh:

Again, the reason I am addressing this is that I want to better understand so I have an adequate foundation when confronted with these people as we are seeing more of them "out of the closet" so to speak. Initially I thought the answer was just to accept them because they are born that way. I am not debating on my part, this is my solid belief at this point. Then, after reading these scriptures from the new testament, it states clearly:

    "Jude 1:7 -
What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities near them is an example for us of the punishment of eternal fire. The people of these cities suffered the same fate that God's people and the angels did, because they committed sexual sins and engaged in homosexual activities. (The New Living Translation)"

Was this addressing perversion or biology? This is something the flesh might be tempted with... Pour enough drugs and alcohol into someone's system and who knows I guess??

    "1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals(noun: born as), nor sodomites, nor thieves(verb, nont "born as" can be changed), nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (New King James Version)"

Ok, this leaves NO room for interpretation here...The trouble I have with this is that ONE of these actions is not just an ACTION but a PERSON by DEFINITION. In my opinion, based on research and findings the term "homosexual" is a NOUN and all the other are VERBS. Anyone not follow me here? You can replace homosexual with white people, black people, blonde-hair, 10 toes. Meaning, these people will always perhaps be attracted to same sex. So by definition it seems they are condemned for being true to who they are? Is God saying they are condemned for being who they are? or their actions(verb)??Anyone?

If no other answer, I tend to stick with what Jesus said, thatis, accept all people and try to live by example. I still don't know what to do if invited to a homosexual wedding. My reflex reaction is no way. I wonder if I am being fair playing the (D. advocate- no relation!lol)

Psalmist, I'm curious as to whether you believe that you can be saved-(going to Heaven) and be homosexual? I agree that there are no boundaries to Gods Love, but scripture clearly shows that God considers homosexuality to be wrong, it is the sin he abhors, not the person.

My approach to the issue of homosexuality is that we should accept the person in Christian love, as we should follow the example of Christ in accepting all people no matter what they have done, and tell them about Christ and the gospel which brings Hope, Peace and Salvation.

If a gay person becomes a Christian I believe it is scriptural that they should turn away from their old life of sin and commit all to Christ,
2 Corinthians 5 vs 17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." NKJV
and therefore the obvious conclusion to this view is that you cannot be a Christian and gay, I would say that it is possible to be gay and 'believe' in Jesus - even the Devil 'believes' in Jesus, but if you have had a realisation of Christs true identity and have accepted the new life he offers then the desire to be more like him should cause us to do as the writer of the book of Hebrews urges:
Hebrews 12 vs 1 "let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us," NKJV

I've noticed alot of you guys are from the US and Canada, as you can see I'm from the UK, and I'm sure that by now you will all have heard of the problems over the issue of homosexuals being ordained as Bishops etc. in the Anglican Church, I was just wondering what your thoughts were?

The answer to that question is the same answer to this one: Can a Christian who still continues to sin after the initial salvation experience go to Heaven?

My answer is most definitely yes. I think people forget that the acts of homosexuals are sins - nothing more, nothing less. I do not think we should look down on someone because of their struggles with homosexual urges any more than we would look down on someone because of his bad temper. It should be discouraged, of course, but I think that often times people see it as a green light to condemn a person for that sin when those condemning are, themselves, sinners.

i don't believe that homosexuality is a sin or something wrong. in a world where people seem obsessed with money it's nice that some are able to find love, regardless of the sex of their partner. as for homosexual genes vs. choice...i really don't know. i have a friend who was gay for ten years, very promiscious, etc, who now wants to be "ex-gay" and has declared that it was a choice. i also have friends who were always straight and then experimented, and others who switched back and forth. it's partially choice and social influence i think...but with some i believe it's destiny. you may choose to be hip and experiment with gay sex...but i doubt anyone would face social ridicule and anger from their families over a sexual preference. it must be genetic or inherited or built in for some...
