Yes, I do. I have started a thread concerning the solution to the pandemic. That is where I give my plan.

Typhoon forces risky evacuations in virus-hit Philippines

Typhoon forces risky evacuations in virus-hit Philippines

Manila (AFP) - A powerful typhoon hit the central Philippines Thursday, forcing a complicated and risky evacuation for tens of thousands already hunkered down at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 200,000 people live in coastal areas or flimsy homes in the province near where the storm, called Typhoon Vongfong, made landfall with fierce winds and heavy rain.

Tens of millions more live along the typhoon's path, which is expected to take it near the densely populated capital Manila.

Because of the twin threat of the storm and the virus, evacuation centres in the central Philippines will only accept half their capacity and evacuees will have to wear facemasks.

Yet none of that will stop them from turning around and blaming Trump for it.

As a Wisconsin resident myself, I have been watching this closely. However, it's not as it seems. Even though the governor's lockdown extension has been overruled, the city and county governments are pretty much continuing it. I looked up all the businesses online that I'd like to go to, and all of them are still listed as being closed.

That makes no sense. Anyone can look at the statistics and see that Germany's cases continue to decline, both new cases and the total of "active cases" continue to fall, each week being lower than the previous.
    The information is readily available.
    Please take things seriously.

Coronavirus pandemic: Is Brazil the new epicenter?

Scientific models have suggested more people may be infected with COVID-19 in Brazil than in the US. Politicians are divided about what to do, but experts say none has an effective strategy.

Too few tests, too much undercounting

According to official statistics, as of May 11, some 168,331 people in Brazil had been infected with the coronavirus and 11,519 people had died of its resulting disease, COVID-19. However, Alves and his 40-member team of researchers have used scientific models that suggest the true number of infections could be at least 16 times higher. According to Alves' models, that would mean that some 2.1 million Brazilians would have been infected by May 9, more than in the US.

Before he was forced from his post in mid-April, outgoing Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta admitted that the real number of infections in the country was far higher than what was reflected in official statistics. Brazil is among the world's least-tested countries when it comes to COVID-19, and according to the online news site The Intercept, Brazil also uses substandard imported testing kits, which in turn reduce their value in terms of information gleaned. "Official data essentially only tracks hospitalized patients," says Alves, who adds: "There are no serious statistics when it comes to this epidemic."

The poor once again bear the brunt

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro likely feels that is the right approach to the current pandemic. He has continually brushed off expert advice about the seriousness of the illness, calling it nothing more than "a little flu." Still, numbers — even official statistics — paint a dramatically different picture: Last weekend, the country saw a 10% spike in deaths, shooting up by 1,131 to a total of 11,123.

The devastation in Latin America is less visible, but compares to the worst in Europe or the U.S.

Deaths from all causes doubled in Lima, Peru and tripled in Manaus, Brazil. In Guayaquil, Ecuador, deaths reached five times the usual number for the time of year.

Brazilian cities are burying rows of stacked coffins in mass graves. Hundreds of Ecuadoreans are searching for the bodies of family members who went to hospitals and never returned.

Latin America’s pain is unfolding without the intense global attention paid to the catastrophes in Europe and the United States. But the pandemic has struck cities across the region with some of the worst outbreaks in the world, comparable to the devastation in New York, Madrid or Paris, an analysis of mortality data by The New York Times has found.

The Times measured the impact of the pandemic in cities around the world by comparing total deaths in recent months to the averages of recent years. They include deaths from Covid-19 and other causes, including people who could not get treatment from overwhelmed health care systems — or were afraid to try.

    74,000 Missing Deaths:

Tracking the True Toll of the Coronavirus Outbreak

By Jin Wu, Allison McCann, Josh Katz and Elian PeltierUpdated May 13, 2020, 11:55 P.M. E.T.

At least 74,000 more people have died during the coronavirus pandemic than the official Covid-19 death counts report, a review of mortality data in 22 countries shows — providing a clearer, if still incomplete, picture of the toll of the crisis.

Over the last two months, far more people have died in most of these countries than in previous years, The New York Times found. The totals include deaths from Covid-19 as well as those from other causes, likely including people who could not be treated as hospitals became overwhelmed.

I've been seeing that sort of thing a lot. Some news article claimed that the infection rate dropped after masks became mandatory in a certain country; I looked, and it was already dropping half a month prior to that, and the mandate changed nothing. Who are these people who think we're blind to the statistics?

When the "second wave" never comes, will people notice?

People don't really understand the purpose of social distancing and face masks. Neither of these will stop the spread of the disease. That doesn't mean they aren't valuable, it just means that if you thought that was the purpose you don't understand.

My Mom just went to the hospital with symptoms of this, she is approaching 90. They released her, she is exhibiting very mild symptoms. I say this because her "social distancing" has been extreme. She lives on a farm, two other people live with her who do the shopping, but her house is a good half mile to mile from the next nearest house and her only interaction has been through Zoom.

It doesn't matter. These tiny virus can float in the air for 3 hours. If she were to take a walk and someone had coughed in that area 1 hour ago she could still pick up a virus. The wind can blow them. They live on bags, so someone brings food from the grocery store she can get exposed.

The real value is that social distancing greatly reduces the viral lode. If 2% of the population has it and you have 500 people visit your store in a day, you can expect 10 of them to be contagious. If they all wear a mask when they speak, cough or sneeze it will greatly reduce the viral lode released. they will release the virus and everyone who comes in the store for the next few hours can get exposed, but if you get exposed to less then the result could be a mild case versus a deadly case.

Newly reopened South Florida seen as an emerging coronavirus hotspot

“Palm Beach County, FL reported a 71% increase in new cases the last 7 days compared to the previous 7 days,” the document explains. “The state authorized Palm Beach County to begin Phase 1 of reopening on 11 May, which includes the reopening of barbershops, salons, restaurants, and other businesses.”

President Trump recently changed his primary residence from Manhattan to his Mar-a-Lago golf resort, which is located in Palm Beach County.

Many of the local governments in Wisconsin have now rescinded their stay at home orders.

Most health departments rescinding local Safer at Home orders

"It is deeply frustrating and disappointing that the legislature and Governor will not work together, or even attempt to do so, in the interest of statewide health and clarity," Appleton Mayor Woodford wrote. "The people of Appleton are frustrated and confused as a result of this inaction, and we are not going to wait for the State to act if they aren’t going to anyway."

Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson wrote, "After conferring with the governor, it became clear that the legislature has no plans for a staged and sensible reopening of our public spaces."

Were people ever really valued by any society in history? I don't think human history reveals a loving and caring society at any time.

We have fine tuned society now and it's mostly just about profit now. Try and enjoy the ride. Life passes quickly and I thank God, that I was not a slave in ancient times.

You haven't been listening to Cuomo's daily briefings? NY is part of the US and is listening to the facts and guidelines to inform their reopening, and are coordinating their decisions with the surrounding states.

Texas reported its highest single-day increase in new COVID-19 cases as restaurants, salons, and cinemas open to the public

The state of Texas on Saturday reported its highest single-day increase of new COVID-19 infections of all time as the state continues to relax restrictions on businesses.

The Texas Department of Health on Saturday announced 1,801 new people had been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 24 hours. The Houston Chronicle reported Saturday that the spike is due in part to a new outbreak in the Texas panhandle with more than 700 cases reported in the city of Amarillo — attributed to meat-packing facilities in the region.
