They can't see it in context without their own presuppositions.

(talking specifically about verse 6) but we need to understand the full context.

The full context is usually understood only by means of the "higher criticism" approach. The audience at which this idea was directed by the author was one in danger of apostatizing from Christianity and returning to Judaism. The survival of the Christian community was at stake and needed to be deterred. Hence the strong and often misunderstood language about not being able to return again to Christ by repentance. This is a view that the Church has obviously not adopted, it was a view expressed by one Christian writer but is rejected by the Church. This scripture is a prime example of the experience, or "Tradition" of the Church trumping scripture.

I think it's pretty clear this is being addressed to born again believers BUT the verse 6 that declares "and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance," is talking about how we are to restore a sinning brother and at a certain point you can no longer turn them, so they will be chastised by God..(but it's not about salvation)
Not about God restoring their salvation rather a brother getting a brother to repent before God's chastisement comes upon him.
