Greg erupts on Juan in heated argument over Democ…:

Democrat run cities?
How are the doing?
Could this be time for change?

Both sides of the argument are well represented here. Seems like a good time to come together and look for some solutions.

I can't speak for every city but the city I live in (Nashville TN) is often criticized for being "democratic run."
Recently the city council voted a significant property tax increase, which of course had conservatives screaming.
The challenge, revenue is controlled by the state. The city has few options to raise revenue without state approval (property taxes and wheel taxes on vehicles being the main two). The city cannot adjust sales taxes, impact fees for large developments/developers etc without approval from the super-majority of republicans in the state legislature. The city went to the state legislature to raise the impact fees on large developers to cover the additional costs for infrastructure, fire, police in lew of the property tax increase. The legislators from across the state rejected it for Nashville (although they had recently approved it for Franklin and Knoxville both "GOP run" cities).
So the challenges are shared between both parties, at least they are here.

Heated argument over Democrat run cities

With 50,000+ Americans testing positive for yet another day with the vast majority located in those jurisdictions where Republican Governors have chosen not to adhere to the CDC guidelines when reopening their states, inquiring minds want to know as to why "hislegacy" and his fellow conservatives have chosen to remain silent about this "recurring theme?"

if jgarden wants to open a thread on the topic - perhaps 'hislegacy' will join in - hieslegacy does not want to derail the topic of this thread. Thanks for asking.

Hard to argue with facts but trust me they will be ignored by many.

"Hislegacy" doesn't wish to address the hypocrisy of his assertions!

His is also repackaging the conservative claim that they, in their infinite wisdom, know better as to whom should represent the inhabitants of those cities than the citizens who live in the cities themselves!

HisLegacy does not care one iota what you think he is doing. HisLegacy is however interested in the topic of the thread.
