Hearing a football game when no devices are on

This is weird: After watching a Saturday night game I turned it off but somehow I could hear a game that plays in the Pacific Time Zone coming apparently from my modem. It is in my room so I can't sleep until the game is over. I turned my computer off. No change. I left the room. It was softer, but still audible. I double-checked the TV was off too and it is. What could cause it? Does it mean family device networks are not good after all? Mom can't do anything at this time because she is sleeping. I also was tired and took my sleeping pill, but can't try to sleep unless I am in a totally quiet room. This better never happen again.

Don't know what to tell you but today while using my kindle in a game all of a sudden there was the games music really loud. I checked and as most times I had my audio turned all the way down. It cut out after about 2 seconds but it was really strange.

I'm thinking someone might be messing over my wifi?

Also this game doesn't have a turn off the sounds feature so not sure how this happened.

It's my understanding that any device that connects to wifi can be hacked into even when they are turned off. That's why cell phones, laptops, Apple watches, etc. are not allowed in the secure conference room where the impeachment inquiry is taking place. If a phone is hacked it can be used to hear and see what is going on in the room.

What could cause it

is it possible a neighbor has the game turned up loud?
we have neighbors who will have friends over & project the game on their garage wall


also, if you have a baby monitor in house, it will pick up
we had one when child was little & so did neighbors
we heard some of their conversations & neighbor heard us!

Can you tell from the audio if they are expecting their audience to be able to see the game? (Video narrators provide less visual details than radio/audio-only narrators do.)

The neighbors are older and travel every week, so I don't think they even watch sports. No kids around in my HOA.

Maybe your TV and modem/router are too close to one another. Could be some sort of electromagnetic interference.

My AM/FM radio experienced a similar type of issue. If I position it too close to my laptop, can hear each mouse click on the FM radio. Was my wireless mouse causing interference. Sound like a faint static type of noise.

Try moving your equipment to a different position.

It is possible your internet provider had their system acting as a large antenna receiving the game frequency and transmitting it onwards where a modem somehow turned it into audio. I've had radio leak on various things in the past that when I more properly grounded things it vanished.

AM radio is particularly susceptible. Next time you hear it, check

1. The time (to compare with TV guide),
2. See if you can identify the teams (a high school game will most likely be AM radio).

This has never happened to me before. I live in a duplex so nobody is on top of my unit. Are you saying I probably was not having hallucinations?
