Hi again, I know of someone that used to come to my church that had a strong healing gift, if you have an illness she can lay her hands on you and take it, but then she gets it herself! However after a few days it leaves her and both are healed! She does this with her kids, she takes the illness and then she gets it!

There are things in the spirit world that are difficult to understand. I've heard of this previously and have concerns about it. Never seen it in Scripture. If someone has, would appreciate knowing where it is. Unless the Lord said to handle it this way, I wouldnt.

It sounds like a spiritual transfer and you’re right to be concerned. I don’t allow anyone to lay hands on me and I’m not saying it’s wrong. But you need to know they’re ethical and the spirit they move in. Much like an atm there are those who’d attempt to make deposits and withdrawals. The latter relates to your anointing. If healing is needed it’s best to ask in prayer first and address the condition as an infirmity and pray against it.

Agree with not allowing hands to be laid on myself.

Gave this thread more thought and talked with some who God has used in the gifts of healing.

Sometimes the Lord will cause pain in a part of their body & they know that's who they are to pray with the Lord immediately healing usually.

Know some do not touch the folks they're praying with for healing.

So maybe it's the terminology or as Bella mentioned transference that seemed off to me in post #1. However it's just my opinion.

"Jehovah Rapha" is "The Lord Our Healer"

It sounds like what is happening is the Spirit is leaving the sick person, and attacking the person who is praying. As I don't have this kind of experience myself I can not comment. It would not be that the person has a problem, it may be they have misunderstood how the Spirit realm operates, when the Spirit leaves the sick they need to command it not to attack them too. But it is not a sin, just misunderstanding of how healing should occur. Spirits often attack true ministers of God, but understanding our authority in that realm is crucial to the attack ending swiftly.

I don't know if this is related, but today I was out evangelizing, and a man told me he had problems with his water works. I said I would go home and pray for him, when I got home I suddenly had blood and pain in my urine. I wondered if the two were connected, and I prayed and told God, "I do not receive any sickness in my body", the next time I went all was fine. The fact is satan may attack us in our health, being faith filled, prayed up, can help us remain well.

Dave Darling from your two posts about other peoples spiritual gifts I get the impression that you are focusing on other peoples gifts. I don't think this is a great thing to do and you should focus on yourself and your own talents and how you can use them to bring glory to God.

It is Jesus who appoints people with the gifts he selects for them for their church and for their life as a Christian. People are given to what is best suited to them and will be added to by God if he desires. You can pray to the Holy Spirit and commit yourself to God and see what he will do if he wants and just leave it I say. We all have our own calling and the gifts are equal to me and just suited to different ministry and ideal for the person.

If there is a ministry you want to do, talk to God about it and make sure it is for the right reasons.

It is wonderful that one of the gifts of the spirit is healing and some people are gifted to do that as Christians and it is truly wonderful that they do. You may see elders of the church in ministry or parsionshers with this gift as for healing Jesus said to gather the elders to anoint the sick and pray for them with healing.

(1 Corinthians 12 27-28)-"Now ye are the Body of Christ, and members in particular and God have first set some in the church, first apostles." See Romans 12 also.

The elders in church were instructed to pray over and anoint those who were sick and unwell with oil and if they had sinned they would be forgiven (James 5-14-15)
