The Vile

Rev 21:8 "... the vile..."

The Greek word being used speaks of the abhorrent, the disgusting, the loathsome - being so not necessarily in the eyes of the world, but in the eyes of God and consequently in the eyes of God's children - those born of the Spirit of God. People who are disgusting in the eyes of the godly are bound for hell. These may be those "unclean persons" Paul spoke of in his list of those bound for hell in Eph 5:5.

Are you morally filthy? The Great Harlot is spoken of in this way, "The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries." Rev 17:4 And likewise of the homosexual lifestyle of those of Sodom. "He rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men." 2Peter 2:7

How is your language? "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks." Luke 6:45 "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." Jas 1:21
