Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Have any Trump supporters here changed their mind about him?

Would I be correct to take from that that you would vote for him in 2024 if he were to run again?

I don’t think anyone would be in any doubt as to why he’s acted as he has for the last four years. Excusing his behaviour as some sort defence against persecution is pathetic.

So you don't think you all persecuted him starting even before he got into office?
The Lincoln Project was set up just for him before he was even elected and never stopped. Crucified, finally succeeded.

You appear to confuse “retaliating” with ‘throwing a tantrum’.

No, most of the criticism I’ve seen has been entirely justified.

The earliest example of his political
activities I can remember is his baseless and unpleasant attacks on Obama’s heritage. You reap what you sow.

That's some impressive time shenanigans, considering The Lincoln Project was actually set up in late 2019..

I still like what he's done as president, but feel he needed to concede the election at the rally yesterday.

I am disappointed he didn't do that. Anything that went wrong this election cycle needs to be addressed by congress... it's in their hands now.

Trump needed to concede and Pence was absolutely doing the right thing.

Would I vote for Trump again is a moot point because he's too old to run again. Will I vote for someone in the next election that holds that same fighting spirit for the policies I want to see passed and upheld in government? Yes. Absolutely.

My husband by the way does not agree with me. He feels there was too much funny business surrounding this election cycle and he thinks Trump was right in not conceding because courts kept refusing to hear the evidence based on "lack of standing" and until the evidence is heard and weighed we simply can't say Biden won.

So we do disagree on this point even though we both agree Pence was correct.

Throughout modern American history the media has been able to drive candidates however they choose. Dig up a little dirt on someone and they will hang their head in shame and go home.

Problem with Trump is he didn't do that like a good little boy... lol..

The problem in most people's minds is there dirt on everyone. I lived a fairly modest life my whole life but I absolutely think if the media got hold of it they could make me into a monster if they chose....

And I'm average I think... politicians are far worse human beings, by and large. They are just skilled con artists.

I do think Christians are far more forgiving of character flaws though, simply because we know our own flaws and recognize them in the light of Christ. THere are no perfect people.

Have you ever looked up the meaning of “persecuted” in dictionary or you think if you use this word “persecution” then everything justified.

Writing OP-ed in Washington Post against President is not persecution. It’s American Politics.

Talking ill about president on MSNBC and CNN and 100s other media 24/7 /365 days is not persecution. It’s American Politics.

Creating a special council to look into President’s activity is not persecution. It has been done in the past , it will be done in the future.

Impeaching president is not persecution. It has been done in the past , it will be done in the future.

If Trump can’t take criticism then he should have never got involve in politics. If constitutional procedure like impeachment is too much to handle then he should have never run for President.

I've seen a handful of people on social media (friends or friends of friends) condemn the most recent behavior and start distancing themselves from Trump.

Not many, and not nearly the majority of Trump supporters i'm in contact with, but some.

    It's a start.

My beliefs regarding politicians remains unchanged. My tolerance of those who consider them demigods is fading. You can't reason with histrionics and fanaticism. Life is too short for nuttery.

I gather if the Democrats go down the impeachment route rather than the 25th amendment route that would prevent Trump running again in 2024. Trump supporters might be thinking of putting their hero into carbonite freeze for a few years.

    Well....

That includes repeatedly urging others to violence: actual words Trump said to encourage and urge people to do violent attacks:

I know someone that has been a Tucker Carlson follower pretty well (via email, from a distance, but know them well enough from the past) that immediately recognized Trump lost the election early on, (perhaps from having seen Arizona called for Biden). Now, Tucker Carlson appears to me, in my estimation, after reading his column today from curiosity, to be caught up in paranoia, appearing convinced that ordinary rights of Americans will be destroyed by Democrats. It's an open question of someone continuing to listen to Carlson will also be inevitably pulled into that paranoia, in spite of so much evidence to the contrary. Perhaps if after time passes and Democrats have clearly not destroyed basic rights....some (few?) might realize it was just truly paranoia:

"What happened Wednesday will be used by the people taking power to justify stripping you of the rights you were born with as an American: Your right to speak without being censored, your right to assemble, to not be spied upon, to make a living, and to defend your family." -- Tucker Carlson
Tucker Carlson: A death in the Capitol, and what we must do now

Is there any cure for paranoia (for the typical non believer, including those many in some politicized churches) except for the person themselves to have a breakthrough, back to reality, on their own? A believer could pray the Lord's Prayer, in real faith, and be delivered. But for a non believer (even those in churches, or nominally calling themselves 'Christian' from habit or early identification long ago), they have to instead somehow have a breakthrough. (Some may be helped if they really do have any faith left, but many are simply non believers) Could yesterday's events help some of the non believers that are pulled at by paranoid ideas and claims? I'm not sure.
