I don't know what I'm supposed to get from the use of the word "consensus." It probably means somebody made the claim but that's all.

In that long Reuters article, in which many people were named or identified, only TWO weapons were said to have been taken by anyone into the Capitol.

One was a stick (that's really good preparation if you're planning on being part of the most threatening "insurrection'' in our nation's history, can't we all agree? LOL) and the other was a pistol that was holstered.

The CBS article tells a lot more about the weapons that were used that day. Particularly against police. While not many of them actually got into the capitol, thanks to police intervention they certainly could have if the police hadn't intervened.

Technically we could say, hardly any weapons were in the capital itself, but at least some if the rioters were carrying weapons like bats, knives, one had a tomahawk etc. So there were at least some weapons there.

A lot of them were improvised like pieces of metal that were probably from the barracades, fire extinguishers probably grabbed from somewhere, desk drawers.

So, there were obviously some things there. But it still remains a fact this was a disorganized mob who forced their way into the capitol and caused fear in those inside. They didn't really do much once they got in except wander around and take selfies. One group did they and force their way into an area and one one of them got shot for their efforts.

The riot did not end democracy, or even come close. It was stupid and the people involv d are being prosecuted. It wasn't the worst thing ever or even close to Pearl Harbor or 9/11.

Of course Jan 6 (the day democracy almost died) was an aberrant spasm. Nothing has happened since. No one else has attacked the capital or rioted in the streets. This thing is over no matter what others might think. There were plenty of people who thought Bush was an illegitimate president his entire presidency.
I dont think the sentiments that caused 1/6 have gone away at all. They will manifest in other disturbing ways. It probably wont be as public and blatant now that people see how easily they can be brought to justice when they Instagram their crimes.

I agree but not only the legal ramifications but the insurrectionists had overwhelming odds just by their shear numbers and law enforcement will be better prepared next time. Plus don't forget what Mike Tyson said "Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

Yeah seriously. Explain yourself.
It is common to misinterpret internet posts or read them in a way that does not reflect the intent of the poster, and other common issues.

The underlying question is: If you cannot interpret human language correctly, how much more the language of God?

Seriously.

I think the Jan,6 was more of a betrayal to our country. Since the Trump helped caused it. Luckily Trump supporter, that were involved aren't as strong as they claim.
Three hours. THREE.

Vs. the freaking start of World War II for us at Pearl. It's embarrassing that Harris would go there.

The Pearl Harbor attack only took an hour and 15 minutes.

Mark 3:25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

It’s pretty simple really. Both Pearl Harbor and 9/11 came from exterior forces and 1/6 came from within. I’ll go with the words of Jesus.

But World War II killed hundreds of thousands of Americans (405,000+) - and millions worldwide. 2400 were killed that single day at Pearl. 1177 entombed in the USS Arizona still!

Less than zero comparison. Laughably bad.

Oh? The factors that led to the events at the Capitol on 1/6/21 are all done with their “war”?
When did that happen?

Lest we forget, WWII was already in full swing before Pearl Harbor.... PH didn't mark the beginning of the war, merely the beginning of the US involvement in it.

As for the body count, we can credit the great disparity in competence for that... The Japanese attackers had it, Donald's followers, well... They get the "Participation" trophy.

There was no war. There was no "insurrection" and no one was charged with insurrection.

There was a protest of mostly middle aged people (with some questionable types in black and covered head to toe mixed in) that turned into a riot for a fraction, all wrapped up in 3 hours and the building cleared. People were arrested, appropriately, though far more resources were spent on this three hours than were every spent on the nearly year of rioting and looting and burning down buildings that BLM engaged in prior, egged on by people like VP Harris and Maxine Waters, who even paid bail for a number of them.

So we know where the priorities lie.

Just what those people carted off to concentration camps about a century ago were supposed to think. "You guys did this to yourself. You provoked us, so nothing we do to you is unreasonable." :sigh:

This is NOT what our forefathers and the veterans of more recent times fought to preserve!

There no doubt was more money spent on Pelosi's little theater performance put on afterwards--having National Guardsmen stationed around the Capitol for months on end, behind chain link fences erected for the purpose...and for nothing. It was all a political show.

The Boston Massacre didn’t last quite this long though the deaths were about the same and came six years before we opted out of His Majesty’s purview.

Some “nothingburgers” aren’t.

Not really moot if we agree that government can do anything it wants so long as it provides some excuse, whether appropriate to the alleged crime or not. I do not agree to such a proposition, though.
