The days once more grow longer and the far-away promise of Spring is renewed.

Happy Yule to all of our pagan friends here!!!!

Down here in the muddy lane there sits an old gray fox,

A-starving and a-shivering, and licking his old chops.

Brings us up a table and set it if you please,

And give us hungry wassailers a bit of bread and cheese.

*Raises her own glass of wassail* Happy Yule! And yes, I too will be glad when spring comes and it's no longer literally freezing outside in the mornings. Zaragoza is too cold for a Southern California girl! I don't mind winter and cold when accompanied by snow, but having the cold and the short days without the snow...

My own special recipie :) chilli powder, cinnamon, nutmeg (enough to make colors brighter but not enough to be toxic), milk, and spiced rum.

Its an aquired taste and a definate punch to the gut but its good
I'll bet it's an acquired taste. I'll stick to my wassail, thanks. :)

I could have sworn that this year's winter beginning tomorrow morning.
Maybe it is only the UK that jumps between the 20-22nd December depending on the sunrise and moons phases because my family celebrate 'yule' according to those not a date.

*Just curious is this differant in other countries?*

Nope, you're right. I posted on the 21st because some observe the 21st no matter which day the actual Solstice occurs. Keeps the wheel of the year orderly, if a tad inaccurate.

I was born on an equinox, but most years my birthday doesn't fall on an equinox. It's cool to celebrate both :D

I never knew that the actual solstice can occur any time between 20 and 22nd of December ...
How come?
I guess I've always gone by what the calender says, rather than what the sun does ...
