For those of you who are Catholic Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception which starts tonight(eve) and is celebrated tommorrow.

For those Catholics who want to have a Jewish and biblical understanding of why we believe this Dogma as it relates to Mary as the New Eve, New Ark of the Covenant, and New Rachel please read Dr. Pitre's book "Jesus and the Jewish roots of Mary". He goes into much detail biblically and from Jewish tradition and also patristics to show how this dogma developed organically in the early Church up to present day. And its a fun read.

Those of us who are High Church Anglicans celebrate some of the Marian feast days. The Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of them and is included in the Lectionary.

Today we celebrated the conception of the Theotokos (December 9th). We don’t celebrate the immaculate conception, since we don’t consider it to be an immaculate conception, but we do celebrate the Conception by St Anna of the Theotokos.

Today the bonds of barrenness are broken, / God has heard the prayers of Joachim and Anna. / He has promised them beyond all their hopes to bear the Maiden of God, / by whom the uncircumscribed One was born as mortal Man; / He commanded an angel to cry to her: / “Rejoice, O full of grace, / the Lord is with you!”

Yes this feast you mention is what our feast of the IC developed historically from.
