I live very remote and have not had tricker-treaters ever, 25 years. Before I became Christian I did allow my child to trick or treat ... but that was before I was aware of its origins as (I was brought up in a non-christian home) and by the time that happened he had "grown out of it" and had no interest in it. And yeah, if my living circumstances were different yeah ... the light would not be on as one has the choice to participate or not ... and that don't make a person mean or anything ... just choose not to participate just like in a lot of things. Doubt the Lord we hold be accountable for not participating.
No, I don’t think He would hold you accountable for choosing to not hand out candy.

BTW, I just spent the last two hours handing out candy for trick or treat. The most popular costumes were Spider-Man for boys, Disney Princesses for girls. I did see a couple zombies, two skeletons and two or three witches. Otherwise none of the costumes were in any way scary or spooky.
