Since January, there are no democratically elected officials in power in Haiti. Gangs control most of the capital city, Port-au-Prince, and other areas.
Violence and crime plague the streets:
- Kidnappings
- Extortion
- Murders
- Rape
The Church in Haiti also faces spiritual plagues. Most Haitians muddle Roman Catholic practices with Vodou (a Haitian witchcraft religion) and animism.
For those who claim no religion, their “gods” are Survival and Power.
Yet, there are NO people so lost that God’s GRACE cannot reach them!
The evangelical Church in Haiti is small — only 17% of the population. But they are working the nation’s burn clinics, and hospitals. They are flying aid to the hungry and homeless.
Followers of Jesus are being HIS HANDS and FEET.
Lord, show Yourself in this dark hour to the Haitian people! Be their Rescuer and their Strength!
