Question: Given your average Christian man, who is going to Church somewhere in suburbia every week, what is keeping him from growing in Faith?

I don't 100% know, but I may be able to come close.

Lo·gos
[ˈlōɡōs]
NOUN
theology
  1. the Word of God, or principle of divine reason and creative order, identified in the Gospel of John with the second person of the Trinity incarnate in Jesus Christ.
    • (in Jungian psychology) the principle of reason and judgment, associated with the animus.Often contrasted with Eros.
The above definition came from an internet search of Logos.

Thumos and Holy Fire

Growing in Faith and being a man is a journey. Faith starts with belief. It is a journey of learning who God is, how God works in the world, and how to lean on him. A student at a college may have a lot of book learning. He doesn't really know how his book learning works until he applies it? To test his book learning he needs trials. We all need trials to grow in faith and patience and become perfect, lacking in nothing.

What is Thumos:

"Got Thumos?" The Art of Manliness.

"Thumos in the Bible" by Paul Couglin

Given you read the two articles, Thumos is something that has seemed to be taken out of man. It is something that has seemed to have been conditioned out of man, and/or seems to have been lost due to sin.

Thumos is a Greek word for Righteous Anger. God has a Mighty Thumos in the Bible. Righteous Anger is something a man may have if his honor or family are threatened. In Genesis 34, Simon and Levi have a Righteous Anger defending their sister and family. In 1 Samuel 11:6-8, we have The Spirit of God coming into Saul and Saul was full of Anger. Be angry and sin not. (Ephesians 4:26)

Thumos is a complicated word, like Honor, that may not be able to be explained in a short sentence. Thumos is part of a man's drive to fight. Apostle Paul was thrown in jail, shipwrecked, and had a lot of rough things happen on his journeys. His tenacity would be attached his Thumos. Thumos is tied to a man's reason. What types of choices does a man make? Does he make wise decisions? Does a young man feel he is invincible and make foolish decisions? Thumos is something that helps a man's reason. Thumos is tied to beauty. What does a man feel is beautiful? It is good to have that righteous anger, but it is good to know when to relax and how to wield it. A quiet Sunday with the family, Church, and a picnic or potluck in a park a man may really enjoy. That is part of Thumos.

The Greek concept of Thumos as enumerated in the article "Got Thumos" may be closely associated with the Holy Ghost. Righteous Anger is something that burns. The Holy Ghost is Unquenchable Fire.

God controls his Holy Spirit like a knob on the radio dial. He can turn it up. He can turn it down. Would you like for him to turn it up for you?

God likes Glory. Glory may be David slaying Goliath. Glory may be an artist making a great work of art. Glory is a new born child. God likes Glory. Would you like to bring God Glory with your life?

Thumos is a complicated concept. Given your average Post Modern Man, he may not understand it right away. He should study the "Got Thumos" article, and roll the concepts around in his head for several weeks to several months. Someone cannot have Righteous Anger without honor? A man may have to work to confess his sins and clean his honor.

Given a man who has been baptized and done what his Pastor or Priest has required of him, he should get on his knees and humble himself before God. He should pray. Pray that his life brings God Glory if it pleases God.

  • 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.(Deuteronomy 6:5)
  • Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation. (Psalms 35:9)

Soul has to do with identity. Several months ago, someone on reddit on a Chritian sub posted something about revival. The topic or question was "How do you guys feel about revival."

No joke. There were men posting there saying things like "I sure hope not."

In terms of Soul and Identity, they hate God and Righteousness? Their soul does not rejoice in the Lord?

God is love. (1 John 4:8) How does a man love God? I don't know 100%. Love is a two way street. Did a man bear his cross? God's love is sacrificial. (John 15:13) God's plan is The Kingdom of God. Loving God may mean working to build the Kingdom of God?

Someone who is working to build the Kingdom of God, and made God intrinsic to him, that means he is doing it for God and the right reasons, and his soul is tied into it, someone working for God his soul rejoices in The Lord.

The son of a pastor ends up a pastor. He may be doing particular things because his dad wanted him to. For approval. For attention. That is extrinsic. He finds God at some point in his journey and makes God intrinsic.

Music directly imitates the passions or states of the soul...when one listens to music that imitates a certain passion, he becomes imbued withthe same passion; and if over a long time he habitually listens to music that rouses ignoble passions, his whole character will be shaped to an ignoble form - (Aristotle)

God has a character. A man tunes his Thumos to Godly character. He learns to love what God loves. He is motivated towards Godly and righteous aims. He transforms.

Given there are negative influences in a man's life, like bad music or stimuli or bad friends, a person should remove those stimuli and bad influences. Listening to music that stirs particular passions may help a man tune his Thumos. That when a man listens to certain songs, he thinks about God and dwells on God's law and is changed over time.

What music is best? I don't know that there is a right answer for that. God makes everyone a little different to serve a variety of purposes? For our purposes here, anything that inspires virile manliness.

The following is something God had me create that is meant to stir feelings. It is meant to stir the soul. It is meant to reveal certain things about the spiritual and how God works. Songs are linked or chained together with some words to center someone's focus and/or tell a story.

Miley Cyrus

I am a certified teacher. I substitute taught around a variety of Middle and High Schools. I was not personally a Miley Cyrus fan, but I saw how much influence she had on young people. Later, I am called by God, and I work for him. I suddenly feel compelled to write about what happened to Miley Cyrus. I can see in the dark. I don't really care to see into all that happened to her or describe it, so I sat down at my computer, and made the following playlist in an hour or so. It just flowed. (This was done sometime in 2015)

It felt really powerful. It may help wake you up to things going on in the principalities so you can better conduct spiritual warfare.

(The following is meant to inspire Thumos and work on a man's soul. When someone has time, they sit down without distractions and work down the list like watching a movie.)

  • God will not be mocked. He has a long memory, and when it comes to things of God, history has to be viewed from his perspective. Spoken words have power. Power of Tongues. God Blessed Video Notice how the demon at the end of the video pulls the Miley Cyrus tongue move.

At this point I start to break it down for you Barney Style:

On understand the above song: http://drstevenwyatt.com/blog/the-gladiator-pit/

  • Man is in jail. Meanwhile, his wife and daughters are being influenced by Lilith or Asherah or whatever her name is, I can never quite remember.

  • Man is in jail. Girl left him. He has nothing to do but read his Bible a lot. He prays to God. Isaiah 42:7

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

2 Timothy 3 King James Version (KJV)
3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Someone is reading this and they are versed in theology.

Question: Would this be Neo-Platonism?

No.

Pragmatic and going with what works.

I cannot say that I am a Platonist. I see that there are concepts or ideas in the Bible that Plato talked about and are relevant. Plato is spiritually relevant at points.

In terms of The Soul, looking at the Soul from a Platonic view may be blinding. Does Plato line up with The Bible and God's definition of Spirit and Soul? Not that I am aware of.

The above is God centered looking to align various concept and ideas with God.

I think growth is a function of applying one's faith.

Question: Given a Pastor was to use Miley Cyrus as a teachable moment or a theme what are some topics he may talk about that lead men into understanding and knowledge of God?

Rewind to 2009-2010. Miley Cyrus is working towards being 18 years old. What are men thinking about? Miley Cyrus was a "Princess" of sorts. She was a celebrity and generally liked or popular. People's children may have grown up with her. As she is approaching 18 years of age, what are men thinking about?

  1. She should be courted and find a husband who loves her and is married.
  2. Self-Centered Seekers of Pleasure are lusting after her and desiring to use and degrade her out of wedlock.
Miley Cyrus turned 18. She "dates."

There are Spiritual Laws. Miley Cyrus, and a variety of things around her, played on some Spiritual Laws in particular ways that are proof of God when someone knows what they are looking for......It is proof of Satan, but Proof of God in an indirect way.

Prior to a young woman being married, she is under her dad's authority. Authority is very important. When she is married, a young woman is escorted down the isle. Her dad hands her over to her fiance. This shows or is a representation of a transfer of authority. She was under her dad's authority. She is transferred to her husband.

Miley Cyrus' dad sings the song "Ready, Set Don't Go." He didn't want her to leave. She left anyway. Miley Cyrus leaves her dad's authority. She became, spiritually, a rebellious female. She is a Lilith or Asherah in some context?

Many people's children may have grown up with Miley Cyrus. Their hearts or sensibilities may have been tied to her in some way. They would generally like to see Miley Cyrus happy and successful and good things for her? Miley Cyrus became corrupt. She sang corruption. She projected or showed corruption. She behaved in a corrupt way. When Miley Cyrus is on a stage dancing with Robin Thicke and doing corrupt things, what does that do to a variety of people's hearts? What does someone love?

Bill Nye and Hulk Hogan are two individuals a variety of people may have grown up with and had fond memories of. Part of their identitiy and what they love may have been tied into Bill Nye or Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan went NWO. Bill Nye started working against God and being a weirdo. What does that do to young people's hearts? Does someone love God? Does someone love Hulk Hogan and go with Hulk Hogan? What was going on with Miley Cyrus is a similar ordeal.

Given someone is on track with Spiritual Laws, and who God is, he may be able to see.

Question: Can you explain Plato and his Spiritual Relevance?

How does someone view history? Christianity didn't start in 0 AD. God is a creator. He created the Heavens and the Earth. God has been active in all of history.

God has plans. Given someone is aware of what God's plans were or are, he may be able to see how God has been moving in history.

In terms of God moving in History, Jesus Christ with his Birth, life, death, and resurrection was a significant event that can be said to have started a "New Age." BC, in general, was a different time or age than AD. There abouts.

The following link is a breakdown of Prophetic Character. What might a prophet look like?

http://kingwatch.co.nz/Prophet.htm

The following is a short video on Socrates: Who was Socrates?

Socrates in the video appears to have the character of a Prophet. Given you read the link from Kingdom Watchers and understand the prophetic character, Socrates looks to be a Prophet. He may have been someone God placed at a point in time to give mankind something.

I don't know.

If you meet someone and find them very attractive and a great personality and you think, 'I could spend the rest of my life with this person.', but then you only see and talk to them once a week on Sunday's, how would your relationship grow?

When we meet someone and find a connection with them, we try to learn everything about them. We talk to them daily or multiple times daily. We write emails, letters, etc to stay in contact with them. We think about them all the time.

What then, becomes of many relationships after time has passed? We communicate less and less. We 'assume' they know how we feel. We assume we know how they feel. What's the common dogma? 'We've grown apart!'

Why should we expect our relationship with God to be any different? We don't talk to Him, we don't spend time with Him. Then we wonder why our relationship doesn't go anywhere.

That same night the LORD said to him, "Take the second bull from your father's herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father's altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
Then build a proper kind of altar to the LORD your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering." (Judges 6:25-26)

Question: How did you discover Reason and Faith and Logos?

I don't quite remember how it happened. I was sitting at my computer one day, and wrote something like

"Miracles happen at the intersection of reason and faith. The more faith someone has the more God becomes their reason."

God also gave me some proverbs. Don't look down. Don't look back. God has good plans. Walk the line.

Blog on That:

"Experiencing Cause and Effect with the Spiritual."

I grew in Faith. God gave me right answers. Kind of like having the right answer in the back of a math book, it is not too hard to figure out how something works when you have the right answer?

I have done nothing on my own. I work for God. I serve Jesus Christ. Born of a virgin. Who died and was resurrected. I have been serving God in the context of the calling he gave me. I have been working to bring God Glory, and build The Kingdom of God.

Given men grow in Faith as I did, they may be able to answer various questions or conflicts between denominations through the Holy Ghost. There are right answers in terms of theology.
