Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., in a letter exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital and sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland, are seeking all FBI and Justice Department records related to government payments to Igor Danchenko, along with the counterintelligence concerns he posed and the bureau’s decision to rely on him as a source.

Danchenko served as the primary source for the salacious anti-Trump dossier authored by ex-British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. The dossier was commissioned by opposition research firm Fusion GPS and paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee through law firm Perkins Coie.

This was when Trump's DOJ and Trump's FBI were in charge, right?

I would imagine that Grassley and Johnson would write a letter to the AG regarding every paid informant type providing info from an adversarial nation as "counterintelligence concerns." I say that simply because with that mindset, then everyone we pay for info falls into that category. I would imagine the AG gave this the proper eye roll it deserves.

As if the DOJ or FBI were being favorable to the desires of Trump? Seriously look at the facts.
Absolutely, they acted favorably to his desires, keeping within the law and policy not to charge a sitting president. Note that Trump was not charged with obstruction even though there were 10 counts of evidence of it in the Mueller Report.

Trump did not get charged for exactly the same stated reason that Hilary did not get charged, supposedly the evidence did not support any charges. Gosh looking at it that way it almost seems fair. Well except for the fact that in Trump's case the liberal media was demanding his head and in the case of Hilary they believe that she can do no wrong regardless of the obvious evidence to the contrary.

No, what you're saying simply isn't true. The report did say there wasn't enough evidence to support a charge of conspiracy, collusion is not the term, but then went on to list ten instances of obstruction. Mueller explicitly said that Trump was not exonerated, was not found not to have committed a crime.

The DOJ declared that there was no obstruction on the part of Trump. It was not up to Mueler to charge anyone with anything, it was up to the DOJ who declined to do so, look it up.

No, they specifically did not declare that. However, you are correct that Bill Barr declined to charge his boss with anything despite the ten specified instances; it is standard policy not to charge a sitting president. Look it up.

Read the facts.
Justice Department officials who evaluated then-President Trump’s actions during the Russia investigation concluded that nothing he did, including firing the FBI director, rose to the level of obstruction of justice and that there was no precedent for a prosecution, the Associated Press reports. A memo prepared for then-Attorney General William Barr by a pair of senior Justice Department officials and released Wednesday offered a legal analysis on whether Trump had criminally obstructed the investigation into potential ties between Russia and his 2016 presidential campaign. Barr agreed with the March 24, 2019, memo and announced that same day that Trump’s conduct did not break the law.
Though the decision to clear Trump of obstruction has been well-documented, the newly disclosed memo offers additional details about how two senior DOJ leaders arrived at that conclusion. Special counsel Robert Mueller, who led the Russia investigation, declined to decide whether Trump had obstructed justice but pointedly did not absolve him either. https://www.ncja.org/crimeandjusticenews/why-doj-didn-t-charge-trump-with-obstructing-justice

I appreciate the link you posted. It talks about the recently released memo. Yes, Barr declared Trump innocent as a newborn babe, but that is in spite of, not because of, the Mueller investigation, which pointedly did not absolve him. From Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW):
"The memo presents a breathtakingly generous view of the law and facts for Donald Trump," CREW said in a statement. "Among many other problems, it is premised on the fact that there was no underlying criminal conduct, which is not what Mueller found, and waives its hand at there being no exact precedent to compare it to."

U.S. releases 2019 memo opposing Trump obstruction charges
Reuters said:
Mueller, a former FBI director appointed as special counsel by then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, released a 448-page report documenting Russia's election interference to sow U.S. discord, boost Trump's chances and disparage his Democratic opponent Clinton. The report detailed numerous contacts between Trump campaign figures and Russians.

It also laid out 10 episodes in which Trump sought to impede Mueller's probe including firing then-FBI Director James Comey and directing then-White House counsel Don McGahn to tell Rosenstein that Mueller must be dismissed, which McGahn declined to do.

Read the Mueller Report. Seriously, it is available for download and viewing (apart from a lot of redactions) at your leisure.
