I fear Americans are going to pay a much bigger price than the rest of the world because of their unwillingness to follow medical guidance. Choose your reason:
    • The government can't tell the church what to do.
    • It's a Democratic hoax staging us for the new world order.
    • It's my right to freedom of assembly. It's in the constitution.
    • Bill Gates is behind it all to hide a microchip in the vaccine.
    • It only kills old people, so what?
What about love your neighbor? Have we no obligation to help keep others well even if we don't care about ourselves?
If I was a member of this body, I'd be looking for a new church.

My family attended this church in the past and my parents still do occasionally.

My Mom told me recently that they were meeting in the parking lot that they rented from the city for like 30 years, until, out of spite, the city said that they wouldn't rent to them anymore.

It is my sincere desire the pastor, maybe others, are found to be in contempt of court and jailed for 30 days.

Not really. Chapter and verse pastor, that requires your church to meet in this specific way, and in this specific manner.

You forgot to add the pastor’s twisting of Scripture to justify having church in this manner.

in 1989 the corona virus was listed in the US medical journal as the common cold.
they did a survey of American and asked them how many people do you think have died of corona virus and the average answer was over 10 million while less then 200,000 have died. The impression the masses have of the severity of the situation is manufactured to 25 times greater than reality.

I personally think a packed church without mask and proper social distancing is inviting trouble. But that being said Americans politicians have never been consistent with their rules and regulations regarding COVID19.

What is the difference between a packed church/bar/gym and a packed riot/protest? The face mask? Like all of them will wear a mask I see many who don't. The open air of riot/protest? Then what about packed beach & parks? You have medical professionals saying racism is a bigger threat than COVID19.

Last time I checked the virus don't have a brain to think and differentiate.

Maybe when the higher ups like the governors and mayors start enforcing rules equally, you have people who will start falling in line.

To my Christians brethren who insist in packing into an enclose building to worship please at least take proper precautions, sanitise hands and leave a sit empty between worshipers. Better still have 2 worship sessions so all can attend just at different times.

We shouldn't take the Lord's Grace for granted. We shouldn't put our Lord to the test.

There is now enough data to demonstrate that indoor transmission is generally the greater risk, especially indoor transmission like that of the church service at issue in this thread.

That much is true. The point is lesser doesn't mean none. And protests/riots are not a necessity (in fact I see it as destructive) and do nothing to help control the virus. I find that Americans generally put politics above safety. And not helping in the situation is the uneven handedness of the authority in enforcing rules and regulations.

How do you expect people to obey when they see such biased enforcement? Either you go full draconian no gatherings no exceptions or full rights all gatherings are fine no exceptions. Authorities should choose one or the other not both conditionally based on their political leanings.

This is quite true, but we don't need politicians' rules in order to do the right thing. I think we can't blame our unwillingness to follow best medical advice on the government. Rather, it is our own self-centeredness and lack of common sense.

I don't physically distance, wash my hands, wear a mask, and avoid large gatherings because the government told me to. I do it to reduce chances of my getting sick or my getting others sick.

Absolutely, but fewer cases, less risk, based on the inherent nature of the activity, rationally allows for different treatment.

    Such as?

It isn’t rational to treat all risk the same. “Full draconian” makes little sense for conduct that is of minimal risk and results in few to negligible cases. “Full draconian” is sensible for those activities with an elevated risk of being a super spreading event, like this church service, and especially when gatherings like this church have been documented to be a super spreading event elsewhere.

I see little evidence for the notion the restrictions are based on “political leanings.” These restrictions, however, follow the data as it pertains to risk and cases.

My congregation has been meeting at a local park for worship. It not only makes us more visible to the general public it gives off a positive image to that same public that we are responsible citizens and care about not spreading this virus not only within our own community but by the subsequent transmission of the virus when our own members go back into the general.public.

My congregation has been meeting outside under the trees in front of the church. When the weather turns colder we will move to the church gym. We could have services in the church but we have many elderly members and council thought it would be better to have greater distancing. Masks are required. For those who are fearful of COVID, services are available on FB.

There is no such thing as "the US medical journal".

"Coronavirus" is a class of viruses, of which there are many varieties. Some of these varieties cause only mild illness, like the common cold. Other varieties cause SARS, MERS, or COVID-19.
    Coronavirus - Wikipedia

What survey is this? I can't find anything close to it.

And 200,000 is merely the figure for the US. The figure for the entire world is 930,000.

Most of what you said in these posts was incorrect or unverifiable. But go on and tell us more about how we're the ones not using our critical thinking skills.

So much for those casual observers who jumped at the chance to laud the government in this instance. With too many governments, the health of people is somewhere down the list of things to accomplish, even though it's the excuse that's always used.
