  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

    For some of us it sometimes pays to shut your trap :) and open up your ears. We're good at talking. We're always talking. Always thinking, always wondering etc etc and there's just that one small thing that we never took into consideration because we're too busy with life. Listening. It's hard to do. Don't believe me? Try to listen to your friends talking all at the same time. The more the better. Get them to talk to you at the same time. Hard to decipher isn't it with so many talking at once even when you're trying :). But if one of them talked to you one at a time, then you'll have a much easier time listening.

    So why is it when God is trying to tell us something sometimes we don't even bother trying to listen even ignoring Him to some extent? "Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger." Maybe these days we ought to listen to God more. His voice is louder than anyone can scream so we shouldn't have trouble listening right? We gotta keep our ears open and not get too distracted by a jillion things that are going past us. I realised today, just a simple read from the bible is one of God ways of talking to us. His voice is right there. So why do we sometimes miss it?

    Got me thinking there...

    Very good thinking Sharky...... Reminds me of this scripture

    Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalms 46:10)

    This is a really interesting thought. I can remember quite a long time ago being at a ladies morning group. Well the leader ask a question about who could tell her what they thought God was doing in town. All I could think was only God knows the answer to that.. Now I could see pride just puff itself up. They all started to talk at once. They all had the answer. They all wanted to prove their point was right and down the next one in line to speak. They would all talk but as I looked around not one was listening. Seeing the judgement and pride. I decided the most wise thing to do was even a fool is thought wise if he keeps his mouth shut. So I shut up listened much, and to every one. Was able to think alot. And choosing to be humble paid off. When it got to my time to speak there was total silence. Everybody wanted to hear what I had to say. God gave me the wisdom of what to say. To such a tricky question.
    I believe pride is the answer to why people like to talk and not listen.
    I believe... Be still and knowing that I am God is the only answer. Knowing who we are and who God is.
    Humbling ourselves before the Almighty will enable us to hear his word.Great post. I enjoyed the reminder. Thanks.

    so much truth in what you have posted sharky. I am one of those who sometimes spend do much time talking not enough time listening.

    It is hard to listen. it takes alot of work. i find one of the bigest obstacles is the endless soundtrack of the mind, interfers with listening to God and to others. I agree with you carmen, it is so often a matter of pride. The pride of having the right answer, the pride of having to last word....it is something the Lord is working on me with.

    James 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
    5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
    6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

    It is far more better to listen as to talk, but it needs practice;

    This thread goes great with Altya's "how does God speak to you" thread, IMHO

    Great posting Sharky :)
